You can own token (HYPE) of a business that uses huge amounts of revenue for buybacks, or tokens of businesses that don’t do as much revenue as HL. This revenue difference is why there’s no beta play for HYPE

HyperEVM tokens have underperformed. To date, 7 HyperEVM-native DeFi protocols have airdropped tokens, including @HyperSwapX, @Upheavalfi, @Hyperwavefi, @KittenswapHype, @Hyperstable, @looping_col, and @HyBridgeHL. When HyperEVM launched, many speculated on the attractiveness of airdrop opportunities. While these protocols have made outsized airdrop allocations consistent with the @HyperliquidX ethos, price action hasn't followed. Each token has declined in price. While $HWAVE and $SWAP only recently launched, the prices of all other tokens have fallen by more than 60% after 20 days had lapsed post-TGE, with $KITTEN down 90.8% since its TGE. The silver lining is that some of the most anticipated tokens are yet to TGE, including @kinetiq_xyz, @hyperbeat, @felixprotocol, and @hyperlendx. However, the probability of $KNTQ launching at a valuation over $500M has plummeted from 91% to 27%, per @Polymarket. The primary reason for this drop is the underperformance of HyperEVM tokens to date, and a subsequent tempering of expectations for HyperEVM’s leading protocols yet to TGE. The outlook isn't rosy, but @HyperliquidX remains one of the most relevant protocols in the cryptosphere, and the narrative could shift in an instant if one of these projects experiences positive price action post-TGE. All eyes are on @kinetiq_xyz, which I predict will be the first to drop a token amongst the aforementioned group.

@vvsmoe @skyiszen That’s valid. If you’re directionally skewed long-term, you should probably just get the equities exposure via spot on Ondo. But if you’re trading perps and losing that much to funding rate (positions not hedged; not farming funding), then you might just be a degen gambler lol

@davydotli @skyiszen Fair, but are perps the right vehicle for anyone who wants serious, longterm exposure to the underlying assets? I’m not familiar with georgia tax law but I can’t imagine it’s much worse than the 10%+ funding you’ll be paying and the risk of venue you’ll be taking on?

@vvsmoe @skyiszen By doing it using perps, you access niche tax laws. In Georgia, income on crypto is not deemed to be sourced from within the country itself, and is thus not taxed. Meaning you get no taxes when trading equities using crypto

@nevlyfans @bennybrown_nft Legally, it is not. Tokens don’t grant any rights to the business. Thats just the cost for choosing to purchase an unregulated product.

But the token is part of the business they are acquiring - it's like acquiring a company and saying 'yeah the bad debt you have - we aren't dealing with that, lets pretend like it doesn't exist' From what I've found the acquired company ran an ICO for this token, raised funds and promised rev share (need to verify this info) If true, it's totally unacceptable for a company that just raised $1b to do this sort of business deal imo. It's unchartered territory legally, but I expect precedents to get set soon enough with cases like this setting standards forever more like.... Raise funds > use funds to build company > sell company > give nothing back to those that you raised from Pretty off lol

Pump just acquired a project that had an existing token and announced they won't be supporting it. It's therefore.. valueless? Currently down 70% today. Who's at fault, Pump for acquiring and not supporting, or the original team for not including it in negotiations?

@0xBroze @tradexyz @BasedOneX There’s probably just not great liquidity for the market yet. In theory, shorts are easier to hedge than longs because you can hedge by just holding the underlying. However perps derivatives do not behave 1:1 like stocks. Having XYZ-100 on spot would allow for better hedges.

Is the reason @tradexyz XYZ-100 funding rate has been so high due to early bullish Unit farming (long only?), difficulty hedging on short side leading to lack of liquidity, or something else? Interested to get thoughts from those who have also traded here already on why this funding rate (even during market hours) has been consistently north of 30-50% (and would also be great to see stats overall from a .HL creating dashboard on this). An up day for Nasdaq but not a ridiculously bullish day by any means, so can't just be market sentiment alone If it's difficulty hedging short side, wonder what can be done to improve UX and liquidity in the weeks/months to come. Maybe just a question of time til spot equities onchain gain traction in tandem for easier hedging? Open q's
