1/ A lot of people think Rudolph is “just a backup” or “no options.” Let’s break down his actual performance and project what he’d do as a true Week 1 starter.

@Steigerworld2 The Steelers have been avoiding just giving him the reigns since 2022. Had they gone with him, he'd either be the man by now, or they would have found their guy. It's been a comedy of errors. They never learn, though.

Where is the evidence to suggest that Mason Rudolph is the Steelers’ third best QB right now?

Sources: the Steelers placed the rare UFA tender on Aaron Rodgers, meaning that he can accept a 10 percent raise off last year’s salary, which would pay him about $15 million this season. As another condition of the tender, Rodgers would only be able to sign with the Steelers once training camp begins.

@MarkKaboly It's the law to use your seat belt. There is no law saying they had to do this, and they wouldn't have if they knew he was coming (as you have said numerous times).

The way I look at Steelers putting tender on Aaron Rodgers is this: It's unlikely when you get into your car that you are going to get into a wreck yet you put your seatbelt on just in case. It doesn't hurt anything to do it, so you just do it.

Forget about your feelings and emotions about Rodgers - the only relevant question is this: are the Steelers better in 2026 with Rodgers than with Allar/Howard/Rudolph or anyone else available? The answer is yes

@MarkKaboly "Rodgers is their best option to break a 10-year playoff winless streak ..." He looked it against the Texans. 🙄 By the time the playoffs roll around he will be 43, tired, beat-up and no position to win anything. When did winning a playoff game become goal anyway? Pathetic.

@DavidMTodd Correct. Rodgers isn't going to win a Superbowl so adding him even before drafting Allar made no sense.

Ok, we are officially at the “WTF is going on?” point w Rodgers & #Steelers. I have always believed Rodgers is better than any QB on the roster. But now, w Allar also in the mix, I think they should roll w what they have. Rodgers isn’t gonna win a SB. Move on to youth & take the lumps that will likely come. The roster is in a pretty good spot. Even better next year. x.com/PatMcAfeeShow/…

@_STEELHERE @KevinAdams26 Among the three, Mason Rudolph leads with superior volume and efficiency from his time at Oklahoma State. Will Howard follows with a productive final season, while Drew Allar ranks third, offering lower production but a better turnover rate.

@jack_sperry @Burghcreative__ Can we stop with the he needs a 42 year old babysitter? Modern coaching infrastructure has made the ‘veteran mentor’ a luxury, not a necessity. No elite young QB in today’s game needed a 42-year-old in the room to find their ceiling.

If the Steelers truly have Drew Allar's best interest in mind, they would give him a true redshirt season this year so he can focus on getting his fundamentals right & give him a future Hall of Fame QB to learn from this year, which sounds like exactly what they plan to do with their continued pursuit of Aaron Rodgers. Allar needs serious retooling of his fundamentals, particularly with his footwork, and asking him to fix his footwork in 1 offseason while also asking him to learn a new playbook, build chemistry with new teammates, and adjust to the speed of NFL defenses I think would be setting him up for failure. Rodgers gives this team the best chance to compete this year with a win-now roster, and even if the Steelers win 10 games and lose in the 1st round of the playoffs again, at least you still spent your 2026 campaign getting Drew prepared for his chance when he's ready to actually make the most of it down the road as opposed to rushing him out there before he's ready, making it more likely you wasted a top 100 pick on a QB.

@bepryor No one else was going to sign Aaron, lol. Now they probably just upset him. Which I'm not saying is a bad thing, but from their perspective it probably doesn't help.

The UFA tender placed by the Steelers on Aaron Rodgers essentially gives them a compensatory pick if he signs anywhere else. Now that it’s after the draft, the Steelers wouldn’t get a compensatory pick if Rodgers signed elsewhere. This is, in effect, an insurance policy.

@AustinRBechtold I agree with you on this... However, your guy Terry Smith did say he's most concerned about Allar having a veteran mentor. How much weight do you put into that?

It was cool to watch Rodgers play for the Steelers last year, but: - They didn't win a playoff game - Don't think he'll be better than last year - Likely not going to stay as healthy (16 G) - He will be a leader, but take important snaps from Allar & Howard Don't bring him back
