Hundreds of NYPD officers are now deployed at hunter college as both Palestine protesters groups converge. Officers are ramming the barricades into student protesters, no use of SRG yet. However, cops attempted to encircle protesters. This is all for a stolen land sale.

Google Chrome is quietly downloading a roughly 4 GB AI model to many users’ computers without clear upfront consent. The file, called weights.bin, is part of Google’s Gemini Nano on-device language model and lands in the browser’s user data folder under OptGuideOnDeviceModel. It powers built-in AI tools such as “Help me write,” smarter tab suggestions, on-device scam detection, and page summarization. The download triggers automatically for devices meeting minimum hardware requirements, and Chrome often replaces the files if deleted. While the model processes data locally, installation happens in the background with minimal notification. The scale is noteworthy. Hundreds of millions or billions of installations add up to thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions globally from data transfer, even though each is a one-time event. To prevent or remove it, go to chrome://flags, disable the entries for the optimization guide on-device model and Prompt API, restart the browser, and manually delete the folder.

Update: I got into the Israel real estate event at Park East Synagogue. Inside I saw at least one table advertising properties in the West Bank, including Kfar Eldad and Karnei Shomron.

We need to stop calling the wealthy the “elite” they’re not better than us. We need to change it to “the predator class” because people that wealthy, buying college admissions, controlling housing, etc are predatory people.

Actions like the one planned for tonight by PAL-Awda outside Park East Synagogue are intended to create fear in the hearts of Jewish New Yorkers and stigmatize our community. This is part and parcel of the rising antisemitism that we are facing. Whatever your politics, whatever your views, this is not the New York way and should be condemned.  The right to free speech, even when it is condemnable, is sacrosanct. So, too, is the safety of New Yorkers. I am grateful to the NYPD for the work that I am confident they will do this evening to protect those entering Park East Synagogue and make sure that a protest does not turn into a gauntlet of hate through which Jews must pass.

NOW: Two hours ahead of the synagogue hosting a stolen Land auction sale, NYPD has deployed nearly every unit and barricades. From 66th to 67th, sidewalks have been shutdown and barricaded. SRG is present in the dozens. Cop presence is higher than usual. Both sidewalks blocked.

The pre-school at Park East Synagogue was forced to close early because it could not ensure safe dismissal. When children can’t safely leave school, something is deeply wrong. This is unacceptable.

This evening in Manhattan, “The Great Israeli Real Estate Event” will be advertising land available for sale in Gush Etzion, a cluster of illegal West Bank settlements, while also making tax, legal, and banking services available for those who want to become settlers, according to the event’s publicly listed information. Despite the commercial and internationally illegal nature of the event -- the UN considers Gush Etzion to be an illegal settlement -- it is being hosted at a religious institution, Park East Synagogue on the Upper East Side. Previous events have drawn protesters and counter-protesters, leading to charges of antisemitism leveled at the protesters for demonstrating near a synagogue. The protesters have countered that it is inappropriate to use a religious institution to shield such a contentious practice. In the wake of previous protests, the New York City Council, with a veto-proof majority, in March passed legislation restricting such demonstrations.

Here’s a shot to show the distance between the buffer zone and Park East Synagogue. The protestors are on the eastern corners of 67th and 3rd. And the synagogue entrance is on 67th between 3rd and Lexington Ave.
