"So despite my earlier reservations about giving up on TextMate, I've decided to make Windows my new primary abode. That's Windows with Linux running inside of it as a subsystem, mind you. I would never have contemplated a switch to Windows without WSL." world.hey.com/dhh/committing…

@ArcticGoddess I learned late in life there was "a" right way (for our house) to fold towels... Your message makes me wonder if there is a generally shared interpretation or is it a family tradition "right way".

“In 2018, a group of Russians were able to donate to Johnson's bid for the Louisiana seat he eventually won as the money was funneled through the Texas-based American Ethane company. “While American Ethane was co-founded by American John Houghtaling, at the time it was 88 percent owned by three Russian nationals—Konstantin Nikolaev, Mikhail Yuriev, and Andrey Kunatbaev. Nikolaev is known to be a top ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.” newsweek.com/who-konstantin…

In my view, the key CPAC story isn’t that right-wing influencer Jack Posebiec said, “Welcome to the end of democracy. We are here to overthrow it completely.” The story is how many Republican lawmakers are absolutely silent about it. May I suggest the media ask every Congressional member who speaks at CPAC, and every Republican presidential candidate for that matter, the following three questions: 1) Do you reject Jack Posebiec’s comments? 2) Do you support democracy? 3) Do you respect the separation of church and state? And don't stop asking until you get answers. I believe journalists have a duty to uncover just how deep the threat to American democracy runs. It’s the answers that should frighten us. Never the questions. ↓

If the hundreds of millions Apple earns on the Developer Program fees is not enough to cover their expenses, then they should raise the price such that Meta and other app makers pay an equal share. Letting them freeload because they monetize with ads around Apple is unfair.

@researchremora Someone made QGIS XML color ramps for all 151 original Pokemon. Went with Charizard and did some layer/Hillshade blending work in qgis and then a quick ray and ambient shade in rayshader. plugins.qgis.org/styles/103/

I know I've been down on cloud lately, but I really like what Fly.io is doing. The HTTP verb-based region distribution is brilliant, it's built on stock Dockerfiles that are easy to migrate, and they engage with the ecosystem 👍

So that's 1.1 billion worth of stock buybacks for those keeping track at home. So how much did those ~200 employees cost per year? 60 million. @digitalocean could have funded the affected people for 20 years but instead chose to buy back stock to make the investors richer

This hurts my heart. I've been a @digitalocean fan since college. It was a dream to work there, and I got to live that dream. To see them fall so far and give a giant middle finger to the people who made them successful makes me jaded af. I actually believed in them. Not anymore
