Not the biggest problem in the world, but if cheese has type, and some needs kerning, the moon needs huge kerning! twitpic.com/e4ctz6

@davelab6 @Wondertypa @ATypI The last conference in the US was in 1999. I think placement of the H.Q. is not so much an issue as wanting the conference in other countries?

@Wondertypa @ATypI Do you mean to suggest registering a new non profit entity in another jurisdiction? For the past 15 years there's been a paid Secretariat role based in the USA, and I suspect a lot of the board were also in the USA. But I'm unsure about current membership and board trends

As a Latin American who doesn't have a visa for the United States and finds the US policies against the Latino community extremely problematic, could @ATypI change its headquarters next year?

@typesfast In first seven months of 2025, the US collected approximately $200 billion in tariff revenue. Where is it?

Most of Trump’s tariffs have just been ruled illegal by the appellate court. Next stop is the Supreme Court. If the administration loses American importers will enjoy a customs duty refund jubilee of biblical proportions.

@adamtwar I think the main reason why Sellers worked as Clouseau, and not Benigni or Martin, was because Sellers played Clouseau for 15 years, and more after he died, before anyone else had a chance.;)

The reason why Peter Sellers worked as Clouseau, while Roberto Benigni or Steve Martin didn’t, was because Sellers played Clouseau as a tragic character, the same way Atkinson plays Mr Bean and Cleese played Fawlty. Bean, Fawlty, Sellers’ Clouseau are our guilty pleasures: ……

@MarkFonts Thanks for asking. The story of Starling’s history is on the Wikipedia page of Mike Russel Parker, so there is no need for guessing. He was the owner of his work, and his successors have the rights. No drama-dairy, pressure or legal armies are, or have ever, been involved. Okay!

Hi @dberlow my daughter Gabriella is autistic and has a HUGE interest in fonts/typeface. She asks me every day how I spell your name and wants me to confirm you are still alive 😅

The psychology behind these logo changes reveals something profound: In a world of information overload, simplicity wins. The way companies communicate with their customers is changing. But this principle extends far beyond just logos...

Notice how logos recently all look the same? Not because it makes them look better... But because of THIS psychological trick that manipulates your brain. That's why Google, Microsoft, and Airbnb are all doing it. Here's the full explanation:🧵

@DSType_Foundry So, if they are not free, then the institution are not going to use it on the web? This idea that brand fonts Can Be Kept to the Brand… ended almost 20 years ago. You are listening to a really dead idea from a person filled with them.

@hhpapazian @pentagram Any time a brand or institution decides to go bespoke, the fonts should never be freely available. But we’re living weird times! Ps: check the new Jaguar logo… you’ll love it 😍

@hhpapazian Sorry I’m late, Teach! That’s (sadly) funny cuz from ’40 to ’45 FDR built the 1%, and buying constitutional amendments is extremely… rare. But you’re close… FDR for sure ate people pets.

If type anatomy can be broken down to heartline, weight, and contour quality with an analogy to the skeleton, muscle, and skin of type— then what would the nervous system of type be? 🤔

@behdadesfahbod @calderon_type @jeremytribby Sub par in what way? I think that the manual one that is nonlinear respects the fact that smaller font sizes have a narrower range from which they can be viewed, relative to larger sizes that have a wider range of distances from which they can be viewed.

The best practice for calculating intermediate weights in a linear interpolation is done using the following elementary mathematical formula. ΔLinealIn = SuperiorValue - InferiorValue / #Weights - 1

@calderon_type @behdadesfahbod @jeremytribby I typically observe the range of weight required to remain the same appearance over a given size range, so the user gets a wght400, e.g., appears the same at all sizes. Then, I do the same for the wght extremes, over the same size range. I.E. an old tradition.

@calderon_type @jeremytribby The way it works is that it first samples the weight axis at a few points (8; doesn't matter) to build a function of from the axis value to the actual ink percentage on the page. This is done using the `fontTools.pens.areaPen`.
