I've finally shipped my Picture-in-Picture chrome extension: Pip Pro! What sets this apart from all other Pip extensions is that you can picture in picture the whole content of a tab and even custom sections NOT JUST VIDEOS

@Andercot @AJamesMcCarthy I've seen the same thing. A beach in san Diego around 2014. Funnily enough the reason I was looking at the sky in the first place was because one of those huge military helicopters passed and I had never seen one before. My gf, now wife, was there with me and also saw the orb

I made a comment under this post but felt it deserved a wider audience, as Bill has a huge platform. There are far more likely explanations than aliens for the evidence we have. I don’t think we’re alone. I just think the likeliness of seeing “visitors” in this context is such a statistical improbability that it should be the last thing ever considered, and it would take overwhelming evidence to prove. It’s far more likely there was an IR light source out of frame creating a lens flare, for example. To really drive this point home, it’s FAR more likely that every single public official and witness was either incorrect or lying. It’s also FAR more likely equipment malfunctioned. It’s also FAR more likely a foreign (but human) military developed some form of exotic propulsion that seems to defy the laws of physics. All these explanations are orders of magnitude more likely than detecting the presence of an intelligent non-human species dancing around fighter jets. It’s possible, but to entertain it as a likely explanation is just silly.
Bill Maher@billmaher

If you don’t believe aliens are here and observing us, maybe you’re the conspiracy theorist.

this looks like an example of a class of (genuinely sad) intercultural / interracial communication failure I've seen a bunch in my life --but rarely seen noticed in print-- for which I see no obvious non-invasive remedy: sv has been collectively soyfacing over a rapper they like wanting to do an ai startup & posting about claude. normal hyper hajnali wypipo autistic hip hop head behavior --cringe maybe but not suspicious. (w&b riffs on that jovially here, framing meek as the next Alec Radford but with swagger --a highly complimentary joke). and there is no greater sign of respect in our culture than a glut of celebrity VCs publicly competing to have the honor to to hurl money at you. this is red carpet, guest of honor treatment. it's hard to imagine a stronger earnest signal (locally). and yet... meek fans (not from sv/ai world) in the replies sincerely seem to think he's being ridiculed rather than welcomed. it's not registering that the autistically enthusiastically earnest invitations he's receiving are sincere. and it's not clear to me how you fix that societally, save Singapore-or-Paris-Island level forced integration or...(maybe, something like) ai intercultural non-verbal signal processing prosthetics, a social credit system, something to bridge the trust gap. More speculatively: I suspect part of the problem is that a culturally white person being kind to the stranger and a culturally black person being disingenuous look ~exactly the same, at least to the resolution limit of my non-verbal processing faculties. eg, I find it makes interracial dating extremely confusing: every time I have ever been ghosted it's been by a black lady who I thought was *super* into me. given that experience, I can't help but wonder if the reverse also happens, where wypipo welcome just looks scammy from a more culturally melanated vantage point. idk if it's low hanging fruit for incrementally more trusting cosmopolitan coexistence, but seems to me like it's worth investigating.

BREAKING: Meek Mill has abandoned the W&B web dashboard entirely. Says he only monitors training runs in the terminal now. "I don't need a browser to know loss is converging," sources close to the rapper confirm.

@paradisemint That sounds nice. Here it gets to 120 during the summer regularly and this year it seems like summer started way earlier. I'm seriously thinking about spending June to September in Oregon or Washington

Taking camping to a whole new level this week! Sorry I haven’t posted much lately. Taking the whole month off from work and just enjoying life. All the money and success isn’t worth anything if you don’t stop and take the time to enjoy it now and then.

@paradisemint @vladtenev @RobinhoodApp Honestly they could save so much bad PR by getting big spenders/investors the card and just slapping a limit on it, I wouldn't even care

I’ve been on the waitlist now for well over a year. My daughter put 4K in a robinhood new account and got an invite in a little over a month. Something similar has happened with several other people I know. They lost a lot of my business because of it. @RobinhoodApp has no program or system that attracts and keeps large investors. Their entire marketing is new users and I don’t like that basically they spend more time promoting “predictions market” which is basically gambling and small giveaways. Zero programs for large investors.

I’m going through the same thing. It seems like if you’re a high net worth person they don’t want you to have the card. People that don’t have any assets get invited almost right away. But if you have a million dollars in assets don’t expect to get an invite anytime soon. They replied to me and told me to DM them. After I did they said there was nothing they could do to advance me on the list. They know I’ll charge 100-200K a month.

@MartinShkreli Did you struggle to find the sentence to end it with? Loved the write up, but the last sentence felt meh 😂 I know that shit would've bug me and taken me hours and probably not even published it because of it. Which is something I've been trying to change about myself

Between this, DOGE, etc. is it fair to say that the 2000s/2010s domains of wealth creation were so anomalous in their simplicity (social media, phone apps...) that they falsely updated an entire generation against the merit of deep experience, only for us to then foolishly start stumbling back into necessary correctives in the 2020s as complexity recovered from the trough? E.g. obviously a Zuckerberg was great at doing Facebook, but probably wouldn't have been so great at Nvidia!

@apralky Zuck is somewhat special out of the trillion+ companies in how much of a one trick pony his firm is. Apple pulled off one of the best CPU designs. Musk pulled off cars + rockets. Amazon did cloud computing and retail. Google have its hands in a lot of pies.

I've seen agents powered with the latest models weaken, skip and straight up delete tests when they're struggling, even after multiple rules and guards are set up. Then I see engineers being lazy and pushing PRs with this test slop... But that won't happen in the military

The modern age has richly rewarded people with a combination of high intelligence and high agency. Now that many aspects of intelligence are successfully being automated, it seems likely that people with relatively lower intelligence but exceptional agency will come into their own if they are willing to egolessly accept AI advice. Imagine a ruthless criminal that completely trusts everything their always-on AI glasses are telling them, knowing that it is carefully looking out for their best interests and isn’t scheming to betray them.
