Mask bans are invasive, unnecessary, and impractical. They force people to risk confrontations with law enforcement and financial burdens simply to protect their health. (1/2)

As someone who has chronic pain I can attest to this
Mx. Inevitable: Cease and De-Cis@MxInevitable
I think it's interesting to see various ableist figures decide they understand chronic pain and disability as sources of radicalization

We all have a right to clean air and masks. Disabled folks have a right to protect ourselves as the government has refused to fund air filtration standards. Don’t sacrifice our lives for your surveillance state.

Today NYC Mayor Eric Adams said he hoped recent events would accelerate implementation of a mask ban. Reminder: There is no evidence that mask bans stop crime. Mask bans make cities more unsafe because preventing people from wearing masks increases the spread of diseases.

Around the corner is what would have been #JudyHeumann's 77th birthday. 💙 In her memory, we revisit The Judith Campaign. This film campaign honors Judy's teachings on the value of creating space for #disabled people to share their stories with the world: lnk.to/judithc.

In moments of stress—when being heard may be more important than ever—we can lose the ability to communicate in the ways we usually do. Our new resource guides people with speech-related #disabilities & #MentalHealth conditions, allies, & lifeline workers. lnk.to/cstress

Hearing reports from Columbia, SC that folks are being denied paratransit rides to the polls because they didn’t book 7 days in advance. Imagine relying on that for groceries, doctors, your vote, your kid’s big recital. Disabled folks deserve reliable, accessible, FREE transit.
@[email protected]@Imani_Barbarin
Just a reminder that disabled people need rides to go grocery shopping, doctor’s offices, to the bar, to the cafe—not just to cast a ballot that impacts you.

Was interviewed on Morning Edition about the prez candidates and disability. It was a longer interview that understandably got cut to 2 minutes, but I’m disappointed that my critiques of the Biden admin on COVID and Gaza were cut. In any case, here it is. npr.org/2024/10/31/nx-…
