@angryangryalice @ComradeQuail Yeah, I remember they just let us run around EuroDisneyland at 13 and then just told us to meet up at a specific spot at close. Me and my friend got lost but we still figured it out eventually. I can't imagine not being allowed to go see a movie 😮💨

Helicopter parenting is just the default now. And people wonder why so many kids are anxious and socially incapable.

@HighHeelEsquire She is THIRTEEN. If she was 16 or 17, yes this would be crazy overbearing. What are they doing at just 13 they don’t want the mom to see? She’s too young to be totally unsupervised. I don’t think this is too much at all. They’re babies.

@vettepassby35 @TheSportWhisper Anyway I agree with you I don't think Rec centers are the answer. I do think a better version of "violence interrupters," community, mothers specifically, and hyper local outreach is key

No disrespect, but I don’t think more rec centers fixes this. That’s not to say DC shouldn’t have more rec centers for children and teens, but the problem here starts at home.

DC doesn't need any "teen nights." We need parents and communities to do something about their unruly and criminal kids.
It's not the government's job to raise children.

@SafeSidewalksDC @AaronBergman18 Absolutely true! But I would not have been caught, at least not every time. I just don't think it's all that different than whatever versions/parties teens faced in the past.

@dclisa01 @AaronBergman18 Agree with all your posts. But my parents would have been furious & I would have definitely faced consequences had I been caught & no one, including my parents, would have excused my poor behavior or said it was my cities responsibility to step in with alternatives.

Should be seen as a major failure of the police dept - the inability to enforce laws/deal with crime without impeding the basic freedoms of random kids doing nothing wrong

@AaronBergman18 99.9% of the children in these videos are observers/gossipers. Tell me you as a teen wouldn't have been doing the same thing in your day (or the rural/suburban/modern day/whatever version of it)

Like physically following/watching others. 99.9% of the teens in these "meet ups" are not commiting any crime or even being a nuisance, they are observer/gossipers

@longhunter09 Don't know you or this trend, but I've seen 2 others and yours is definitely the best. Kentucky is beautiful. We have a similar summer here in DC, even the lightning bugs! I'll need to make my own post lol!
