@airesearchtools So far, my experience with Codex has been producing global solutions for nonlinear models, and it does a great job. Haven’t tried it with Stata yet. Any advice?

A few days after starting to use Codex, I can already say that I think it's a qualitative leap forward. I tried to replicate work we had already done with Stata, and I did so with a great deal of skepticism. However, the performance has been phenomenal, and the advantage is that you can review the code and see if it is correct. It has replicated all the estimates we had, without errors. When you want it to apply a specific method, you simply have to put the paper describing the method in the folder. Codex reads it and implements it. And we have independently verified that it has done so correctly. So far, with simple things. Obviously, there are times when its understanding of what you want it to do is not perfect, and in any case, you have to be very alert. Also, if you follow the steps of the model, I get the impression that it is sometimes very inefficient, but in most cases it ends up finding a way to do what you ask it to do. The way we work continues to change. The risks too, of course.

I love Claude Code but I’ve found myself using ChatGPT 5.2 pro more and more. It’s just unbeatable if you want something mostly right the first time. Yes, it takes longer, but iterating, checking/rechecking as a default (you can create a skill for cc, but not as effective).

🚨 New WP alert‼️ 1/6 Our new paper introduces a multi-country, multi-sector NK model with domestic & international input-output linkages. It extends standard open-economy models (e.g. Gali & Monacelli 2005) by incorporating production networks into foreign shock transmission.

Looking for AI recommendations: I need to do pages of boring and repetitive algebra. I did it myself, and now I'm adding an extension to the model, so there is a template that AI could follow. I found Claude Opus 4.5 unreliable, as it has been introducing subtle mistakes.
