Auston Matthews is under contract for 2 more years to the @MapleLeafs and does not have to be “sold” on anything. He’s paid to do his job. He works for Chayka, Sundin and Pelley. What @am34 needs to worry about is to play better next year so he can get a contract extension or a new contract with someone else. @CntrLeafsNation @coreylandsberg Ppl dont understand that the faster u move the puck, the faster u can play. Their D was atrocious this year at getting the puck to the forwards. AM looked just fine in the Olympics. It's how Berube uses him, his system, & no puck movers on the back end.

@coreylandsberg The team as a whole played slower. How can you blame 34? He looked better in that window when Berube seemed to have loosened his reigns & they went on that run. Roster make up and coaching plays a lot into this. A better coach, some more mobility/speed across the roster will help

A big reason for the Leafs going into the shitter was that Auston Matthews went from being a 69 goal scorer who was a top 5 player in the world to somewhere in the 20-30 range. If he wants to see meaningful improvement then he himself has to meaningfully improve. #LeafsForever

@odhanvyz @ClankoMedia Unfortunate, bc there are a lot of good players who are just as good if not better, who play for teams not ranked as high. They don't get seen, bc scouts don't attend those gms.

On a night where… well yeah you all know… I will say something I see as a positive opportunity for 39… I liked how he looked at the top of the 6 on 4. I wonder if using him at the top of the PP makes sense. Go 5 forwards. Him or Zegras maybe to play the top? Carolina is lethal short handed, so I can see the hesitation, but with how difficult 5 on 5 goals will be to come by, I think I’d take the chance and put 39 at the top of the PP and go 5 forwards. The right QB is the difference between a normal NHL power play and however you would classify the Flyers power play. Try to react without mds emotion.

@L69fs Yeah man the 2020 Blue Jackets and 2021 Habs sure were insane wagons that the Leafs had no shot at beating. You also could have beaten Boston in any of the years you played them too. You were as good if not better than them every year you played them.

Makes me sick that up-and-coming teams like the Ducks, Flyers, and Habs were instantly rewarded with joke matchups against washed-up husks of teams while the Leafs' young core were essentially condemned to a seven-year gauntlet of cup finalists right off the bat every damn year
