@CoachMarchesano Congratulations! Great opportunity to coach at your Alma Mater. I’m sure you’ll have success, don’t forget to have a little fun and enjoy the journey.
The @OhioPrepWriters handed out 826 boys basketball All-Ohio awards this year—more than 1 per school.
—In 2025, the first year with 7 divisions, it was 770.
—In 2024, the last year with 4 divisions, it was 590.
—In 2000, it was 363. LeBron James didn’t even make 1st Team All-Ohio that season as a freshman.
And why do you need Special Mention AND Honorable Mention?
Steve Sarkisian said, "We have to focus on the task at hand, the daily process so that everybody walking into this building...is focused on being the best version of themselves."
It means focusing on the process not the outcome.
Process is what you do.
Outcome is what you get.
Rick Pitino was asked what stops people from being great. His answer was one word.
"Ego stops greatness. I call it edging greatness out."
"In a spiritual sense, ego is edging God out. But ego is edging greatness out."
And he made a key distinction:
"I'm not talking about confidence. You have to be a confident person."
"But ego really gets you to where you think you've arrived. You think you know it all. You stop learning. You stop listening."
That's the trap. Confidence keeps you hungry. Ego convinces you that you've already made it.
You lose your hunger and humility.
"Learning and listening are important for great leaders. Great leaders have to listen and they have to continue to learn and surround themselves with people that are better than them."
EGO = Edging Greatness Out
The moment you think you've arrived is the moment you stop growing.
Stay confident. Stay humble. Never stop learning.

@readswithravi John Wooden said, "Don't whine. Don't complain. Don't make excuses."
"Get out there and whatever you're doing do it to the best of your ability."
You can't control everything - But you can control how you show up. Attitude. Effort. Ownership.
That's leadership.
@SportPsychTips Kobe Bryant said, "You always want to outwork your potential. As hard as you believe you can work, you can work harder than that."
Nothing replaces showing up and doing the work.
When you accept everything is earned - you go out to earn it.
@readswithravi Bill Belichick said, "You earn your teammate's trust through your performance and your consistency every day."
"You have to show your team that you're committed. That's what a good teammate does."
Consistency builds trust - with yourself and others.
"Today everybody wants to talk about their rights and their privileges.
50 years ago, people talked about their obligation and responsibility.
You have obligations to other people.
If you want to fail, you have the right to fail.
You do not have the right to cause other people to fail because you do not do everything to the very best of your ability."
Rick Pitino explains why selfless teams win. “When you play for the name on the front, the back prospers.”
“When you play for the name on the back, you never prosper. All you are is guys with good stats.”
Great teams play for each other.
They know connected teams achieve more.
