Many of you aren't going to be happy about what I have to say, but I'm saying it anyway The Cultural Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is dead, and it's being buried by the 1st Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve, and it's not coming back. The vestiges of it are an undead zombie being kept animated by the whining of members longing for the past that is never returning. And it's only going to get worse. Anyone still clinging to the dead cultural trappings of the former way of doing things is going to die (spiritually) with it.

@Vestwitt @Boomstick44 Your argument just never improves, does it? I think Jesus was a historical person. Wasn’t supernatural though. Mohamed was probably real. Also not supernatural. You’re also a skeptic, you just give special pleading for your god. Yours isn’t special.

They are not demonstrably false beliefs. They are anchored in some of the best documentation of ancient history. And that IS evidence. If you had the kind of documentation on other historical people and events like are in the Bible in general, and on Jesus in particular, you would never question it. Because to deny their historicity is to deny ALL well supported historical documents. Much of what we know about history, events, people is significantly less supported. The only reason you question is because of the supernatural claims. That's what it comes down to... you have a presupposition that God and the supernatural don't exist, because that's what society had taught you... you're indoctrinated into the humanist religion. And so you look for anything to try and prove your case. And you think you've found it, but you have nothing that hasn't been said for the last 200 years, and yet, none of it proves anything. You can't demonstrate that the Bible is false. All you have is denial and skepticism, and neither of those demonstrate anything. But the every thing that you deny, is the very thing that proves God. Because anyone could claim to be sent by God or even be a god. But if they are going to claim that then they had better be able to do something supernatural. God has done it in the Old Testament and Jesus kept doing it in the New Testament, in front of thousands of people. That's the proof. You weren't there, tough luck. Lucky for you we had over 40 people who recorded it, so that you would know. Do me a favor. List your sins for me... you know, the one's you want to keep, and the one's you would have to give up if you accepted Jesus.

Can you discern the wheat from the tares? 🤔 Matthew 13:24-30 The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares- Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”

@BIGKLDS Getting some perspective allows you to start over. If you come back to it and it still seems inspired, great. You seem a little defensive. Is saying “unoriginal conclusion” some kind of win? The correct conclusion is all that matters.

@Boomstick44 @Vestwitt Why don’t you understand anything about your claims? Are you not familiar with Pascal’s Wager and how fallacious it is? The God of the Bible is demonstrably false. I’m not concerned in the least about some eternal torture. It’s simply not true. And your wager has plot holes.

lol man. C’mon. Here’s the thing. If you’re right, you just disappear. We’re right, you suffer even more wrath from the almighty God for eternity for trying to lead His sheep astray. It’s not a scare tactic, it’s the truth. We’re not here by accident. We were created to worship, glorify God and live in a constant relationship with Him. I love you but you know you’re full of it and acting selfishly. Matthew 18:6 (ESV) But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

@Boomstick44 @Vestwitt Tu quoque. I don’t shame people for emotional comfort; I criticize demonstrably false beliefs that promote fear/guilt & influence real-world harm (laws, discrimination, wasted lives waiting for heaven). A coping mechanism that requires pretending fiction is truth is unhealthy.

Look how hard you’re trying to disprove God. Spending all this time arguing with Christians when you think you just disappear when you die?? No, you don’t believe that. You just want confirmation bias so that you can feel safe living a dishonorable life. God is real. Hell is real. Repent and believe the gospel.

@Vestwitt @Boomstick44 You need to back that claim up, Terry. See, by your own criterion the Quran is true: ✅ historical document. ✅ can claim it’s been shown to be true (tons of Muslims believe that) ✅ not been shown to be false.

@BlackBlessedLDS The target of their racism was so clear for the early church when they only really conceived of African-descended black people in America. When the church went more global and they learned how diverse people were in other countries, they immediately had no clue what to do.

When Joseph Fielding Smith was an Apostle, a young man needed to speak to him. Why? He found out he had African DNA in his family tree. More than just “one drop” which was the policy at the time; even just one drop was an exclusion from the priesthood. This young man was active in the church, served a mission, and was about to get married in the temple. He also had a brother who was a Stake President, another who was a Bishop, and another in the high council. When he told Elder Smith this news, Elder Smith told this young man to tell his fiancee that there wouldn’t be a temple wedding because “our doctrine is very clear on that.” After the Church meeting ended that Elder Smith was attending in this young man’s area, he asked to speak to this young man again, privately. He then told the young man to keep the matter to himself. He said, “all of these [men] have been married in the temple and have participated in Church ordinances.” That this news “would ruin their lives.” Additionally, he informed this young man not to tell his fiancee or even his bishop. He continued, “this is something between [you] and the Lord, and if the Lord ratifies the sealing in the Temple, who are we to question it?” Arrington diary, July 17, 1962

@wolverines788 @RevIsaacWirtz Are you so literal you can’t get that I was pointing out the absurdity of the Christian God? Wow. Try this: “Santa sucks. He hooks up the rich kids but skips RGH’s house every year.” Do I believe in Santa now or is it maybe a joke? You’re boring, dogmatic, incurious & naïve.

@deaconstructd @RevIsaacWirtz You wrote: “God sucks. Talk about the ultimate ‘do as I say, not as I do.’ “ If you were intellectually honest, you would have simply stated “Christians suck” rather than imply a belief in God. Beyond that, I find talking with Atheist boring, and not worth my time.

@David_Kicinski While also making the earth appear billions of years old and like it arose from naturalistic processes like evolution—to test the faith of believers. Oh but human sacrifice had to stay on the table. That was a non-negotiable.

@wolverines788 @RevIsaacWirtz Nice dodge. If I were you I’d also take the easier path of attacking someone’s motives rather than addressing the actual argument. Your beliefs affect laws, education, politics, & how people treat others. It’s not anger towards a fictional being—it’s nixing magical thinking.

@wolverines788 @RevIsaacWirtz I don’t believe in magic, no. Why do Christians insist on projecting motives, beliefs, and feelings onto others, while failing to understand their own arguments? Your scripture is no more valid than any other religious text that you have no problem dismissing out of hand.

@deaconstructd @RevIsaacWirtz I am assuming you believe in God since you are upset with him. just read scripture. It’s very clear that there is an afterlife. You face judgement and spend eternity in heaven or hell. And no, murder by parents is against God’s law and not condoned.

@wolverines788 @RevIsaacWirtz Prove we’re all immortal. That’s just a claim. Even if we were to grant that, your argument is still disgusting and fallacious. There are literal examples of parents murdering their children to “ensure they make it to heaven”. Your logic condones that.

@Vestwitt @Boomstick44 As for your other claim, it’s textbook begging the question fallacy. “The Bible is true because the Bible says it’s true (via witnesses), and any contradiction you find isn’t real because I already know there aren’t any.” Gimme a break. Do better.

Way to avoid that issue. If you claim the Bible is full of them, then you should be able to produce one or two easily. If you don't want to go back and fourth about it, because I am going tell you why it's not a contradiction, then OK. But as for your video, if there were two, isn't there also one. If I say I went to the movies with my family, and then I'm talking and I say I went to the movies last night, is that a contradiction? No. It's just less details about the same event. Whether I say I took my family, or I say I went, I can still talk about the movie I saw. Nothing changes. The problem is people claim this is a contradiction, but on the other hand, when the gospels report the same thing, then the objection is that they are not independent accounts and they plagiarized from each other. The actually reality is this. The Gospels are written by different people, witnesses and those who talked with the witnesses or worked for them (Mark and Luke). All the gospels cover the same material and each one has something the others don't, either additional events or with different detail. That's exactly what you would expect from multiple witnesses to three years worth of events. And as for the resurrection account in particular, there were multiple people there, who came at different times, and saw different things in time. All those people were not at the tomb at the same time. And actually, all four gospel accounts can be arranged to explain how all the events fit together. So there is no contradiction. And angels throughout the Bible always say don't be scared... because they are scary. So, yes there absolutely were multiple angel appearances to the different people as they came to the tomb and other left. Also, except for Luke, all the authors were Jewish. In Jewish culture, a woman's testimony was considered unreliable (they generally can't serve as sole witnesses), so if someone was going to make up a story, it would not be one where women are the first witnesses. He's wrong, his argument if fallacious.
