@florida_grand What did DeSantis do? Individual Florida counties have unwritten rules about the homeless being seen. You don’t see them at the beach, but they’re in every wooded lot.

This scenic description of Florida beaches versus California beaches truly encapsulates what DeSantis has done for Florida and it’s an underrated aspect of his direction for the state. Floridians take for granted what could and probably would have happened if Andrew Gillum had won the election in 2018. The state of Florida would have slipped into a mirror image of California with sanctuary cities and accepted homelessness in the streets and rampant crime. Gillum would have leaned into what Gavin Newsom does in California and would have listened to him for advice in how to set policy in Florida. Bottom line, we wouldn’t have the Florida we have today. As we enter the last six months of DeSantis’ tenure as governor, be mindful of that, be grateful, and be cognizant of what effective governance does for a community, both on a smaller scale and broader spectrum.

Hubby and I visited Sanibel Island in Florida this weekend and what I DIDN’T see was more impressive than what I DID see. I didn’t see homeless people camped on the beach or boardwalk. I didn’t see needles and drug paraphernalia laying around. I didn’t see human feces on the sidewalks. I didn’t see criminals looting stores or attacking people. I didn’t see any of the things that have become the norm in California. Thank you @GovRonDeSantis for fostering a clean, safe, beautiful paradise and being the governor that America needs.

It is incredibly ironic that Florida is completely surrounded by water but currently needs about fourteen inches of rain just to get out of a drought.

@DetHailMichNE @UtdMaI It’s hard to even fathom as an American fan, but you have teams that can contend for the league title, benching guys and essentially abandoning winning to chase a tournament trophy instead. It’s just so much more dynamic than anything we’re used to.

@DetHailMichNE @UtdMaI The top teams are also concurrently playing in up to 3 other tournaments. You could play what amounts to a Rose Bowl game on Thursday and then have to turn it around and play your in-conference rival on Sunday.

Explain this to me like I’m a one-year-old: Why do Manchester City always seem to have one or two games in hand when the season’s nearly done and it’s the same story every year?

@DetHailMichNE @UtdMaI Because you end up crowning the champion of the entire season and not who peaked at the end. Plus the EPL avoids soft scheduling by making it simple, you play every team twice. Once at home and once away.

@UtdMaI As an American who recently got into watching my biggest question is, why don’t they have playoffs? I couldn’t imagine any of our leagues just handing out the championship to the 1 seed and not playing for a title.

Being a bird watcher in north Florida is so weird. Basically we have all the same sort of coastal lowland birds you see all along the gulf states, but once in a while “Is that a parrot?”

The loss of taste for cornbread and beans, especially in the south, for burritos, chimichangas, and flautas is culturally genocidal and an existential crisis.

Never told anyone outside the band before, but when we played Hammy New Years, I wanted to die🤣 I had a cyst in my back that had rapidly grown into the size of a plum & was giving me a constant fever & not letting me sleep. Got it out 3 days after the show & it was a HUGE relief
