Today is the saddest day of my entire life. My very first cat at the age of 15 passed away. We got him when i was little and he was basically my best friend. Last 3 years i havent been able to see him much and i dont have any recent memories of him to carry with me which saddens me more than anything. 10 years ago, deep learning was in its infancy. PyTorch didn't exist. Language models were recurrent, and not large. But it felt important: a new technology that would change everything. That's why @drfeifei , @karpathy, and I started @cs231n back in 2015 - to teach the world's best deep learning class and make these new ideas accessible to everyone. A lot has changed since then. But this year I was honored to return to the classroom for the 10th anniversary of cs231n and teach a new generation of students alongside @drfeifei, @eadeli, and Zane Durante. btw last year’s freshman class started with 90 students and ended with 60 they tried to recruit 100 students for this year by offering automatic admission to anyone with an SAT score of 1460 or higher but good students want to go to real colleges (duh) so they could only get 60
