The word "AFFIDAVIT" only appears four times in the SAVE Act. Neither of them mentions that the applicant can submit one if they lack proof of citizenship.

Mike Lee is flat-out lying about what's in the SAVE Act. He claims that if someone lacks documentation when registering to vote, they can "submit a simple affidavit" explaining their citizenship. What the bill actually says is: A state "shall not accept… an application… unless the applicant presents documentary proof of United States citizenship."
