The only way to deal with the Iranian regime’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz is to force the Strait open. Military force in the Strait is the only way to re-establish deterrence. The regime does not get to turn international waters on and off like a light switch.

The coming of summer heat takes the chance of a US ground force invasion (to get the "nuclear dust, to seize an island, or take Port Chabahar) from less than 50-50 in the spring to nearly nil.

I think our generals have finally gotten this through Trump's thick skull: that further military defeat will only make him look worse in the history books, and that's what he cares about most.
So now he's trying to sell his own surrender as a "deal," with the details to follow, but for certain, Iran will be left in charge of the Strait of Hormuz forever.
