The first time I ever put a camera on a scope, it was M42, but Orion season was at an end. Taking that picture gave me the push into #astrophotography. This is my first "proper" attempt, so it's not perfect (core, ahem!). Almost missed it again due to clouds 😏 #Space

The Moon and Jupiter were looking wonderful tonight. I haven't done any Moon or planets for ages. It felt good to be out there again. Lots of images to process now. It'll take a while.

@jaume_zapata Ah it's great Jaume, with everything often so much in red it's nice to see the blue. One day I hope to get pics this good

The Rosette Nebula 📷 My latest picture from the backyard is the dynamic Rosette Nebula in Monoceros. A stunning emission nebula that spans 130 light-years across. The Rosette Nebula is the official astrophotography target of February! Okay, I made that up, but it is a great target for this month. This is my 'first light' testing the new ZWO AM7 mount - the largest model in their harmonic drive lineup. I am happy to report it does indeed perform flawlessly in -20C weather 😄 I have a lot more to share about this setup soon! IMAGE DETAILS: 67 x 5-minutes (5.5 Hours Total) Processed in PI and PS GEAR USED: Camera: bit.ly/3CaQWUI Telescope: bit.ly/46iImQK Mount: bit.ly/46vKN1F

@Yorkshirewhitey Thank you, good of you to say. This is a great nightscape picture. Have managed to get a lot of stars in there. We all start looking up at the sky, just good to be looking up and getting familiar with the night sky.

@deelle22 These are mine 🫣, we all gotta start somewhere though. I know it's nothing compared to proper ones but you could only see a few stars that night so this blew me away when it finished.

My astrophotography year of 2025. Not an impressive collection, but it was good to get out when I could. Happy New Year and clear skies for 2026. #Astrophotography #space

The difference between the @Optolong_filter l'eNhance filter (2023 data) and the L-Pro (2025 data). I tried putting the images together but the rotations are different I got a diamond-ish shape. That and neither data is great. So stuck with a comparison. #astrophotography #Space

@deelle22 At home I have a Newtonian telescope, a GSO 200/1000 and a Losmandy G11 mount, so with the 2.5x Barlow lens, I got a focal length of 2500mm.

I'm not that happy with the way this has turned out. Second try on this nebula. However, hadn't been out in a few months, new laptop set-up and tried the @Optolong_filter L-Pro filter, compared to the l'eNhance used last time. Deets in the ALT. #Astrophotography #Space

@deelle22 Many thanks buddy. It was cloudy, and I had the cover ready in case it rained, but the clouds cleared, and I was able to capture the entire moon with the 2600MC, I switched to 462MC with a 2.5x Barlow lens (2500mm), and the good seeing was already noticeable in the photos...

The Rosette Nebula (DWARF MINI edition) 🌌 I took 300 pictures of the stunning Rosette Nebula using the DWARF mini smart telescope! This time of year, clear nights are very rare, so I am constantly checking my weather apps for a brief gap in the cloud cover. Earlier this month, the skies opened up, and I took full advantage. I set up the mini and even took the time to polar align it. 🥶 To create this image, I stacked the raw data and spent a lot of time processing it to get it where I wanted it. Is it a little muddy and overcooked? Sure - but it just felt so good to be out there capturing something again 🙂 GEAR USED: Camera/Telescope: bit.ly/44ehwHI DETAILS: 300 x 30-seconds (2.5 hours total) EQ Mode Duo-Band Filter

I don't have an outside space of my own. As I was heading to bed, I took a look at a previously cloud filled sky. You don't always get to see a door creep ajar, but when you do, take it, see where it leads you. I mean ultimately it still lead to bed, but it also lead me here 😆.
Ed@deelle22

So back at it again. I'm trying again and hoping that NINA doesn't crash again. Unexpectedly clear, guiding is very solid compared to the other night and trying the @Optolong_filter L-Pro filter instead tonight. 3 minute subs, maybe be too long but we'll see 🙈#Astrophotography
