Turns out someone in the next neighborhood fired a gun five times in quick succession and the sound reverberated throughout our neighborhood and rattled lots of windows. So, the bigger question is why someone was firing a gun so early in the morning?

At 5am today, somebody or something (raccoon? zombie?) knocked on my bedroom window. If that happens to you, turn on the light. If it is a prowler, they'll leave. If you do nothing, they'll see that as a sign that no one is home and may try to break in.

@HackingButLegal I taught my daughter about threat modeling and risk management when she was a teenager. She doesn't do that for a living. Instead, she figured out how to apply it to her everyday life. She said that the skills have gotten her out of jams she's seen others struggle with.

The feeling of helping your child with something you weren't helped with as a child is unmatched. Pure joy 🥹

@fauxmantis I built two of these to use in my garage when I do woodworking and another one in the room with the cat litter. You can also tape a filter directly to the back of a box fan if you don't have room for the big cube. I have one of those suspended over the cat boxes to catch dust.

If you're currently affected by the wildfire smoke, please remember you can make an air filter with MERV 13 hvac filters and a box fan. This one cost me $40 to make. it has two filters, the rest of the sides are cardboard. You can also just tape 1 filter directly to the back.

@Jun34u_sec @0xTib3rius I have two of those in my garage that run when I do woodworking. It's amazing how many tiny particles they suck up. I put one in the room where the cats do their business along with a Wen shop filter, and they pick up so much cat litter dust.

@reybango Scary but true. I've observed many times when I'm out riding my bike on the weekends, the people I see walking, even those with kids, are glued to their cell phones. They're not paying attention to their kids or enjoying nature. They're missing out on so much life.

Drop this into any AI system and see what answer it gives you. “What has fundamentally changed the world for the worst but us humans haven't realised?” Chances are it has to do with an inability to just sit with our thoughts or some variation of that. For all of the information we have at our disposal, even AI sees that we’re slowly losing the ability to be self-aware. 😞
