@CaitlinPacific This reminds me of when I was a sophomore and my dad called to tell me that the brain tumor he’d told me 2 days prior my mom had was terminal. I hung up, spent 2 hrs finishing the article I was wrong for the school paper, & then called people to say my mom was dying.

The morning after Pearl Harbor, my father joined every other man at Amherst College and walked into town to enlisted. I once asked him what he'd done next. He looked at me in mild confusion: "I went to class" That's what we'll do Wednesday - we'll go to class.
