Indigenisation unlikely to happen. Why? Two reasons. 1. R&D is usually in the DNA of a company. It doesn't come with "promise to do in future" attitude. Manufacturers can't transform into research orgns. 2, The penalties for such violations are very minimal. 4/5

Failure to indigenise as per plan should result in blacklisting of the company/group & criminal prosecution of the board and key managerial personnel. This will ensure they don't promise lightly. As of now there is hardly any "punishment". 5/5

Ukraine Russia conflict highlights that geography matters. For India, with China on one side and Pakistan on the other, both nuclear enabled, our dependence on Russian military equipment, and US far away, we have challenges. One thing this war teaches for sure : be Atmanirbhar!
