There are other options for a penitential prayer and your church probably used it. It’s a light touch of the chest and a show of humility.

The Mass should be welcoming for all, so long as no one is going out of their way to be immodest or disrespectful. If a man or woman is walking down the street and feels called to come into the church for Mass, we shouldn't tell them no because they're not dressed perfectly.
