@Flash_37 They are not being fined £200m, that’s the potential revenue if they won the playoffs, no guarantee of that, but regardless of fines or appeals they will always be cheating scum to #pompey

Up to 200 mil pound fine for #Saintsfc seems a little over the top don´t you think ?

🗣️ "It feels like you've been put on trial for murder when all you've done is stolen a mars bar!" Matt Le Tissier is not happy with Southampton's removal from the Championship playoff final 😡 #SaintsFC #EFL

@Dann_PFC So all the presently embarrassed Southampton fans were, one week ago, making fun of the situation and being cocky, look how that worked out

Imagine spending hundreds of pounds on those outfits just to become the biggest embarrassment in the EFL 😂 Hope Phil and Scott are having a brilliant day 👍

@SouthamptonFC The penalty is harsh. No one is disputing that, but by cheating Southampton attempted to take away the £200 million prize from Middlesbrough, so is that not equally harsh and deserves a punishment equal to the sum that was taken away from Middleborough.

@raxmax74 For me, there’s no complaints over the punishment. What’s abit annoying to me however is they make the right decision on us, but as soon as it affects them they wont make the right one in sending Hull up.

#saintsfc way too harsh punishment imo, this coming from an ITFC fan, i believe today's ruling is final nail in the coffin that football is for fans, you don't punish the fans and players in this instance, heavy fine would of been ample punishment imo

@raxmax74 Would you complain If it was your club spied on, why should fans be punished when owners overspend & a club goes into administration, it’s all part of the same problem and basically fans are taken for granted, money is all players and football club owners are interested in.

@BenPalmer78 Self inflicted wounds by your management, now you know how painful it was for Pompey supporters as we stood by and watched our club being destroyed by corrupt management

The EFL haven’t just punished us; they’ve ruined us. In addition to losing half our team, we’ll be sued for many, many millions by players, sponsors & rival teams. We’re essentially facing years of decline and pain on and off the pitch. Thats why this is disproportionate.

@SargetheSaint It’s always the fans that suffer, and there nothing you can do except stop going, but it’s unlikely people will do that, perhaps now you will all realise that Pompey fans were not the cheats. We were the victims just like you are in this case.

The one thing in my life that gives me a break from reality, takes me away from the pressures of life and work and it’s been destroyed. Other fans can laugh and joke, but i feel like i’ve been stabbed in the back by someone I’ve trusted my whole life. Im devastated. #SaintsFC

@pn_jordan_cross So what are #pompey doing to mitigate the risk of JM leaving and being prepared to make an appointment quickly if required, something which in the past hasn’t been a strong point.

@theawayfans Or have time keeping carried out separately from the referee, less distraction for the ref and someone not involved on the pitch stopping for any delay

Former referee Mark Clattenburg's proposed change to stop time-wasting in football: "Football is an entertainment sport, so we need as much playing time as possible. The first time I refereed in the Champions League, only 40 minutes of the 90 were actually played. "The two things I want to happen are that the referee has the power, instead of showing a yellow card to a player wasting time, to reverse the decision. If the player is instructed to take a throw-in and delays it, the throw should immediately go to the opposing team from that spot. "Often, players go to the sideline, bounce the ball, move it forward a long distance, wait for the referee to tell them to return to the original position, wait a little longer, are booked, and the referee writes down the sanction. Then, after about 10 more seconds, they take the throw-in. The player wins. They steal a minute doing that. Instead, if we had the option to reverse the sanction, without booking them, this wouldn't happen. "The other idea is the same but for goal kicks and corner kicks. If the attacker delays on purpose, the sanction is reversed, and they lose the corner, which becomes a goal kick. If the goalkeeper does the same, they go from having defensive control to conceding a corner."
