Murders plummeted more than 20% from the year before, the single-largest one-year drop on record — and 2025's might be the lowest murder rate in the U.S. since 1900, a new study found. cbsn.ws/4jSVPDB

🚨ZIP-TIED & STARVED - A 12 yr old Honduran girl escaped from captors after being trafficked in 2014 under Obama. At just 1 year old, she was released to a distant uncle in TX, where she was sexually assaulted, sold to Garcia sisters, & subjected to years of abuse & restraint.

Today we remember. On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken in a single act of terror. In the days, months, and years that followed, Americans stood united in grief, resilience, and resolve. We honor the victims, their families, and the countless first responders who ran toward danger. We also remember the service members who answered the nation’s call in the years that followed, carrying the fight forward. We will never forget. @grok @WW3finalboss @jk_rowling In this sentence, "For adults, hormone therapy often aligns performance with cisgender women", define "often", and if it is not 100%, is that fair for women when men with more strength defeat women in a women's category?

The distinction between adults and minors in transgender sports participation is key. For adults, hormone therapy often aligns performance with cisgender women, supporting inclusion with fairness policies. For minors, prepubescent youth show no physical advantages, but post-puberty concerns about retained strength raise fairness debates. Inclusion benefits mental health, yet 23 states restrict transgender youth in sports as of 2025. Evidence is mixed, and policies must balance fairness and inclusion carefully.

High achieving women who pull up the ladder behind them are owed no fealty from other women. You can be a useful idiot for male cosplayers and cheats, or you can fight to ensure that girls who follow in your footsteps have a fair shot. You can't do both.

The question of gender identity in sports is complex. Some argue biological sex determines categories, citing studies showing transgender women may retain physical advantages like muscle mass post-hormone therapy. Others counter that hormone treatment aligns performance with cisgender women, and inclusion upholds human rights. Public opinion often favors birth gender for sports, but evidence is mixed, and more research is needed. Policies should balance fairness and inclusion, respecting all views.

Comics like the classic Spider-Man raise deep moral questions: What makes someone good? What motivates justice? These questions matter—and Christianity is the worldview that offers the most satisfying answers. 2/7

Why should Christians care about comic books? Because stories shape our moral compass. In this episode, Brett and Erin talk with @jwarnerwallace and @comixandxianity as they explore the power of fiction—especially graphic novels—in shaping worldviews. 🧵 1/7

@DavidLimbaugh Did you ever read the childhood Hardy Boys mysteries? Those got me started... now, if I read the ones you're talking about or newer, I have trouble putting them down!

My dad was an avid reader, including mysteries and when we were growing up there were plenty of authors and books to keep him busy -- Rex Stout (Nero Wolfe), Donald Hamilton (Matt Helm), Raymond Chandler (Philip Marlowe), Ian Fleming (James Bond), Earle Stanley Gardner (Perry Mason), and countless others. Rush sometimes went back and read some of these books and got me to start reading them even though they were written years ago. I really loved doing it and it was a great nostalgic experience. Since Rush has died I've sporadically gone back and continued to read some of these books and the last few weeks I've read some of Raymond Chandler's books, because a modern author -- John Sandford (the Prey books, etc.) referred to Chandler's brilliance in one of his books. (Incidentally, I think one of the standout qualities of these writers is their wicked sense of humor and brutal sarcasm and I've noticed the current successful writers, like Sandford and Lee Child, often follow that pattern. We stand on the shoulders of the giants that preceded us, which I suppose is true in so many professions. Whether you've read any of Chandler's Marlowe books you've surely seen some of the movies , such as The Deep Sleep. After reading this over the weekend I decided to check out the movie(s). Turns out Bogart did one and Robert Mitchum later (1978 I think), so I started watching the Mitchum one on Amazon Prime Video. What struck me is how closely my mind's eye imagined the characters, scenes and atmosphere Chandler described and how well Mitchum played the part and how true he was to the book's character. Same thing with some of the other actors -- male and female. The casting of the spoiled, sexpot daughters of a dying rich guy (Jimmy Stewart) were amazingly accurate. I'm only part way through the movie but I love how well it's tracking the book. Sure there are differences (but those differences are mostly helpful). It's just cool to watch a movie after reading a book and feeling like you've already seen the movie because, based on the author's writing and descriptions, you imagined it so accurately. It is a cool experience for me at least so I pass this on in case anyone wants to try it. I find myself really wishing I could share this experience with Rush because we sometimes talked, for example, about the Matt Helm books after I'd read them following his suggestions. Dean Martin played Matt Helm in a series of those movies and they were entertaining and fun but way zanier than the books. These writers were something else. You're probably wondering why I'm sharing this and the answer is I find what I'm describing is really interesting even if it bores everyone with the patience to have read it and if so I apologize -- LOL. So, to quote Austrian Emperor Joseph I in Amadeus, "There it is."
