If I’ve seen this before, then I’d forgotten about it, but this is quite literally one of the most straightforwardly disqualifying pieces of writing from a political pundit I’ve ever read. Like, if this is your understanding of the world, then you are such a weird, sheltered, confused person that you should go sit in the mountains for the next 30 years reading about American society and trying to understand it. The idea that anybody who would write this would be employed as a writer and political thinker is completely insane.

@slatestarcodex to his credit wrote an article about how the immigration skeptics in the US were right about it in Europe but wrong domestically (I disagree with the latter but so be it) This at least establishes the very real and important prerequisite that many liberals will not accept that it is even POSSIBLE for immigration to have negative consequences. Everybody *loves* to argue about crime up/crime down, but what's so devastating about mass immigration into safe European countries and into states like Maine is that they're all basically going from 0 to 1. That binary shift from "basically no crime" to "now we have crime and you can argue every year about whether it's going up or down" is a far bigger shift. Zero to one is the big one. It's just completely insane that anybody would ever do that to themselves willingly. All kinds of things that weren't relevant before will now be relevant. Such a stupid waste.

The current debate on "objectification” is the basis of my pinned tweet. The female sexual mode does not understand the male sexual mode. Women see the male mode as inferior and dehumanizing. When they fully internalize the understanding of the male mode, it often disgusts them. But the female mode that is more focused on narrative and connection is only one half of the whole. The male sexual mode that is focused on parts and movement is the other half. We need both of these to form real sexual action and bonds. They work in conjunction with each other. The mail mode is not inferior to the female mode. It is simply different. Women need to try to understand this. “Objectification” is responsible for him always enjoying the site of your boobs. It's responsible for him staring at you simply because you're gorgeous to him. Men are more visually oriented and that includes the thought of his genitals entering yours. This does not mean he does not see you as a whole person. There's a time and a place for thinking different thoughts and it is okay for men to look upon women at times in purely sexual manner.
