Another public space has been restored for public use, and is now safe and clean again.
All those living at this site on Granger Bay Blvd have been offered dignified, much better, shelter accomodation in the City of Cape Town's Safe Space shelters. 🤍🤲
We extend this care to all living on the street, with the clear understanding that no one may continue to illegally occupy public spaces while indefinitely refusing help.

East London was dirty and crowded, much like Johannesburg's CBD. However, this is how the area looks after the march concerning illegal immigrants. There are no street vendors on the sidewalks or near the traffic lights. The big question is: were all these people undocumented foreigners?

My Inner City Rejuvenation Plan Policy was approved by Council during the 2017/18.
This is one of the 154 properties awarded the private sector.
On my return after the upcoming LGE, this policy is going to be brought back as a matter of urgency.

An abandoned, hijacked CBD building turned into a fully let student housing success story👏💪 Remington House, situated on Nugget Street in Johannesburg, has been transformed into a green-certified mixed-use building with affordable rental units and is fully let. The office block was previously abandoned and later hijacked. Today, she’s a student accommodation success story. Details of the building: • Building area: 7 191m2 • 133 bachelor apartments • 5 ground-floor retail shops • 14 parking bays • Amenities: study centre and gym • EDGE results: Energy 27.81%; Water 22.40%; Materials (embodied carbon) 51.00% • Resource systems: Centralised heat pumps; solar installation; borehole and filtration; LED lighting; low-flow fixtures; dual-flush toilets; optimised façade glazing So many buildings have been hijacked in this street; one can only hope that more can be saved. This conversion was made possible by TUHF, for which I give huge kudos. We would love to see more of this.
