@RedWingDiehards I think Steve and all of us know that Copp is probably better at a 3C role that can play a serviceable 2C role if injuries happen. Copp offers value to the team we just need a better player to slot him down

@RedWingDiehards The long pause on the 2C question is due to Steve finding the right words to say that doesn’t absolutely shit on copp. Thought that was blatantly obvious. Thought he answered that well, giving copp some flowers but ultimately saying he and everyone needs to be better

Here are my thoughts on the Yzerman/McLellan press conference: - Honestly, didn’t hate a lot of what I heard from Steve and Todd but I am going to be honest I am past the point of whispering to me what I want to hear. Go do it f**kface. (Respectfully) - Yzerman was asked about major shakeups (players, front office, etc) and if he thought that was necessary and he basically said maybe/maybe not. Let me clear it up for you, it’s maybe. It’s actually not maybe. It’s yes. If you don’t do much of anything you’re unserious. - Someone asked directly about getting a better 2C and the longest pause ever occurred and I laughed 😂 Yzerman admitted the center position as a whole needs to be better. Wow, no way, really? Which one of the three blind mice told you that? - Yzerman confirmed he spoke with Ilitch a couple days ago (and apparently does so with regularity) and that the family is extremely disappointed. They remain supportive of what Steve is doing. Yzerman also talked about “seeing this through” a couple times and that’s code for he’s not going anywhere. If you were hoping he gets canned, it’s not happening. - Owned that they “need better players” and he admitted this isn’t “going to plan” and also that “failure is a good teacher” which are all the correct things to say. Failure can cause honest reckoning which is long overdue. - One thought connection I made and really don’t like. Yzerman was asked about being so high in the standings and his playoff odds confidence. He then spoke on red flags he saw along the way to essentially pump the brakes on the high hopes. This was well before trade deadline. If you really felt this way, why pay such a high price for Faulk? Again, another example for me of things feeling reactive rather than having a concrete and organized plan. I have a little sympathy, it was truly a lose-lose scenario for him to trade or not trade. We all wanted trade. He did. Didn’t work. Shit. Learn and win a trade(s) this summer! - Todd isn’t goin anywhere and Steve confirmed no coaching staff changes foreseen. I think that’s the right call and I think a lot would agree with me here. - Admitted the way they do things top to bottom need reflection and re-evaluation, that was good to hear but again, don’t talk about it be about it!! My stance on the organization remains unchanged. I heard some good things today, and a couple annoying things. The hockey ops team needs to get stronger ideally soon. Then a good summer with at least one trade for either 1LW or 1/2C need to take place. Multiple players sent to parts unknown. Come back pissed and take this thing to the next level. Like I’ve said lots, there’s a good core and a good head coach. Core needs one more piece to pop, and the supporting cast needs to be stronger. Hockey staff stronger. Good summer. Come back rejuvenated and get after it with a different and more confident identity for 2026-2027 in Detroit. #LGRW

@Jarebear81787 nah Marty will always be a Bolts legend. Besides, who’s the 5 above him? 4 for sure, Stammer, Kuch, Vasy and Heddy. I love Pointer but he’s not there yet and you can’t tell me you’re putting Vinny, TJ or McDonagh above him.

@Jarebear81787 Crazy statement. I realize he’s the enemy at the moment, but he’ll always be a Bolt legend. His Game 6 OT goal in Calgary is still the greatest single moment in Lightning history; the Lightning version of Ronde’s INT in Philly.

You are misinformed, like many others. Steve Yzerman and Vancouver had agreed to a trade for Quinn Hughes. It was a done deal ON THE CONDITION that Hughes agreed to a long-term deal with Detroit. Yzerman and Hughes spoke directly. Hughes declined. Wings sure tried.
Seider da collida(deadwings)@seiderdacollida

So let me get this straight yzerman wasn’t willing to give up premium assets for 26 yr old Quinn Hughes but was willing to give up a premium asset for 34 yr old Justin Faulk who has the same contract length with no guaranteed extension?? It doesn’t make sense. #LGRW

This is what you want to hear from the locker room.

#CBJ forward Adam Fantilli this morning on the Jackets falling short of the postseason: "We let it slip out of our hands, and we're devastated about it. We're devastated for each other. We're devastated for our fans. It couldn't be a worse feeling. We know we let them all down, so it sucks."

@raphaelbeauche2 @seiderdacollida Came here to say the same thing. Aside from the first, would hardly say what we gave up are premium assets. Truly an apples and oranges scenario. If Steve could have sent this package to Vancouver he would have lmfao.

@seiderdacollida Would’ve have to change Holl for Edvinsson and the 3rd for Sandin Pellikka. I don’t think the Faulk trade was good for DET, but this is comparing apples to oranges

UPDATE: The #RedWings have acquired Justin Faulk from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Justin Holl, Dmitiri Buchelnikov, Detroit’s 2026 1st round pick and San Jose’s 2026 3rd round pick.

@LGRWkyle @MeltdownRocks Don’t engage with this guy. He is an absolute moron and absolute worst kind of fan. Nothing wrong with being critical of Yzerman, but the guy has zero knowledge of anything going on. It’s like arguing with a toddler that thinks the earth is flat. Do something better with ur time

@MeltdownRocks What moves should Steve have done to get us into the playoffs? Give me free agent signings that are realistic, trades that are realistic, waiver claims, draft choices, anything. If you’re so sure about it, I’m sure you have a list

@WorthlessComedy @JimCosta_ Was more so just a way of saying, I think Raymond has a lot more to give and a lot more potential, so it’s crazy to me that people would rather trade him than cat. Doesn’t make much sense from a rebuild perspective imo.

@WorthlessComedy @JimCosta_ For the record, I’m not on giving up on cat at all. Just think cat is about at his full potential, where I think Raymond at full potential can score like cat (maybe not 40, but mid 30’s) but will be a much better playmaker.

@JimCosta_ The Raymond talk is absolutely nuts. I don’t think Raymond will ever be a bonafide superstar, but he’ll be a high level star. Dude was swedens best player this Olympics, was our best player 75% of the year. Razor needs to be more consistent and shoot the puck more.

@TheMarvSpace The longevity argument works for Randy and rice against Calvin. Not Larry Fitzgerald. Sorry Calvin’s peak just way higher and we can all reasonably assume Calvin’s tail end would be better than Larry’s as well, if he continued to play. Hypothetical, but again reasonable assume

@saintultra @TheMarvSpace @thatcaden_ Exactly. IMO there’s a balance/ratio of reasonableness between the two. I don’t think longevity should be diminished, but I think we can all reasonably assume if Calvin played as long as Larry he would easily have surpassed him.

@GregoryPelle @the_det_times Please keep going. Cause the only real comparable one is Columbus and even then I’d argue Detroit is more built for the future than the jackets (better contracts to core, more available cap space, and better prospect pool)
