@sanketsahu I liked the idea of OSS being sharing code around things you did for fun so it might help others. Even tailwind was just one css file Adam kept copying in all projects. This expectation of production grade, no contribution required, free for use software is so problematic.

This breaks my heart. 💔 Something as foundational as Tailwind powering countless products at $100M+ companies and yet the team struggles to survive. The pattern repeats across opensource. Unless you're backed by a giant (React by Meta, Flutter by Google) or can build hosting/services around your framework (Laravel, Vercel) survival is difficult. github sponsorships? They work for some but rarely become a primary revenue source that sustains a team. Blockchain based rewards for opensource usage? interesting intent but I haven't seen any direct meaningful impact on the ground yet. the situation also reminds me of Kitze's talk "GitHub stars won't pay your rent" and it still holds true years later! Having built NativeBase and gluestack I've been in similar situations where github stars don't translate to sustainability. You end up building marketplaces, SaaS tools or consulting services around your open source work just to keep the lights on! What if the companies building $100M businesses on top of these tools started contributing direct revenue not just code?

🎧 Recorded a new morning walk this morning, hard one to share because I'm sure people will want to roast me for it but have been transparent up until now so publishing it anyways.

Last year I started exploring things apart from coding. One of them was photography. Sharing some of the ones I really liked

@DavidKPiano > Validation on blur, not while I'm typing Mixed feelings on this, if they show error when I've moved on to the next field, then its annoying to have to go back to previous field and fix it. On the other hand showing the error when I've just begun typing is also annoying

Things I wish were table-stakes in every web app: - Typing auto-focuses main input - Enter submits forms - Esc closes modals - Validation on blur, not while I'm typing - Let me decide whether a link opens in a new tab or not What else?

@DavidKPiano > Typing auto-focuses main input but if the app has non-modifier keyboard shortcuts like hitting `k` play/pause YT video then we can't support this feature right? Asking to know if there are better patterns available

So turns out, stderr is a total misnomer. It's not meant just for errors but all your diagnostic logs. Suppose you built a tool that outputs json data. It can still write that to stdout so you can pipe it to a file. And write the progress logs on stderr web.archive.org/web/2020120411…

Is $2M ARR Interview Coder legit or just a vibe-coded mess? 🤔 I spent a weekend testing it & found MAJOR flaws, security holes, and a way to get Pro access FREE. 🤯 Yep, there's video proof here! #InterviewCoder #Tech #CodingInterview #TechBlog

Video of the year! In UP's Meerut, groom Dev Kumar was happily getting home after the wedding when a pick up driver pinched a note from his currency tucked garland. What followed was a near Bollywood, daring chase for justice! Groom Dev Kumar asked for lift from a motorist, chased the pickup driver on a busy road, got on to the moving vehicle and enter the cabin using the passenger window forcing the driver to stop. The groom got out of the window even after the vehicle stopped. The driver was roughed up by the groom and his relatives.

Do not ever straighten rebar like this. I cannot emphasize how bad this is for structural integrity of reinforced concrete structures.
