conclusion: china is an interesting country and one i think every person should visit. i enjoyed the trip, but there was not a single city i visited that i would be eager to go back to. my favorite city was chengdu, most underrated was guiyang, most beautiful was yangshuo.

- most people drive with window halfway down - neon signs always work, great tech - restaurant staff prints receipt and puts on table right after ordering - rare to hear police sirens - many emergency shelter signs

random notes on china halfway through trip. so far spent 3d in guangzhou, 2d in yangshuo, 2d in guilin, 2d in guiyang. - didi premium is great, never worth taking economy - so many people have never seen foreigners - people are generally nice - wifi passwords are all 88888888?

@DollarCakeCry @akiaeki pool is usable but nobody goes in. it’s good for one night just to see the property but i’d recommend staying elsewhere where you can have a view of karst mountains from your bedroom like this. room views from sugar house are not as good.

@devannpatel @akiaeki I saved this hotel since i saw it many times online ha, how was the stay here? I think i never saw ppl inside the pool! Its usable i guess?

anyway, that was the best meal of my life so far! for the manila familiar: i also dined at gallery and automat. i gave gallery a 27.0 and automat a 24.5. gallery was immersive and unique but toyo is on another level. was unable to get a res at helm but i’ll be back.

she also showed me the fermentation process before taking me into the kitchen to meet some of her friends (chefs) who were still working. it was incredible getting to hear them share their love for cooking and working at toyo. they showed me how they plate dishes which was also cool.

i've been fortunate to dine at some incredible restaurants all around the world, but last weekend i had the best meal of my life. 4.25.26 — toyo eatery, manila
