@bobpockrass Bob, race laps are a little over 2 min. Plan on 4:45 for caution laps to be safe.

Sorry been a long day ... Cup race is 75 laps tomorrow (not 100) ... so that is 2 hours, 49 minutes if all green and then add at least 3 minutes for each caution lap. With stages, that will be at least 3 hours and most people are thinking it will be at least closer to 4 hours.

@Toby_Christie @dennyhamlin @ji711 @KellyCrandall If you want qualifying lineup to be set by “that weekends practice”, how did you want to set it up when there’s no practice because of rain or from super speedway weekends that don’t have any practice?

Absolutely not. Trust me, I don't like the amount of handouts we have in this sport these days. I still don't like the Chase (but I do like it better than the Playoffs), I'm a full-season championship guy. That being said, I just feel everything tied to a particular race weekend (lineups, results, etc.) should be based on that race weekend. Ideally, I'd like to line the qualifying order up by practice speed, but with the short turnaround between sessions these days, I'm not sure how feasible that is, and the group practice format, which usually gives one group a distinct speed advantage, doesn't work either.

Sorry, @TheMikeBagley , I love you but completely disagree. The “incentive” of running well isn’t that you get a good group for the following week. The incentive of running well is that’s the job here. You’re supposed to be doing that. The metric has outlived its usefulness. The snowball effect every week is just exhausting because it’s so hard nowadays to climb out of. I’d like a driver to get a new week and new chance as it used to be with a random draw or something else.
