The extent of the damage caused by the overnight strikes in these locations and others on the island (outlined in linked post) is not yet clear. Will be interesting to see once higher res sat imagery becomes available. x.com/evanhill/statu…

Interestingly, some locations hit in the video shared by CENTCOM had already been damaged by March 11. It is unclear from the current sat imagery if those locations, which include an apparent communications tower, sustained additional damage.

U.S. military officials said the overnight strikes on Kharg Island targeted storage sites for missiles and mines, not oil. Sat imagery from today seems to square with at least part of that account; the oil depots don’t appear to be damaged.

@noctu_mind Oh wow yep, there is definitely damage there. I see an AN/TPY-2 radar system just east of the struck building as recently as Feb 20 of this year. Will be checking back there for hi res, ty for flagging!

It is not yet clear if an AN/TPY-2 radar system was affected by the recent strikes at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia

In Apr ‘23, an AN/TPY-2 radar system was at or near the building Iran recently hit at Prince Sultan Air Base. But these systems are transportable; this one moved before a roof was built by May 25, ‘23. The system was not clearly present amongst the debris in sat imagery from Tues

@BartDePalma @Faytuks @heytherehaley @riley_mellen We identified 3 sites directly hit & 4 others where damage was visibly done to structures adjacent to comms or radar equipment. Not sure if the systems were damaged at those 4, but may have been targeted. Appears some facilities we did not initially account for were also damaged
