Jose Charles Martin have involved a serving foreign diplomat in electoral activity in Puducherry. The Sri Lankan Deputy High Commissioner, Dr. G. Geathiswaran, was present in Vaitikuppam to engage with voters an act that Jose Charles Martin has himself openly acknowledged. This constitutes a direct and confirmed breach of: 1.The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (Article 41), which strictly prohibits foreign diplomats from interfering in the internal affairs of the host state. 2.The Representation of the People Act, 1951, under “Corrupt Practices,” as the influence of a foreign official has been used to affect the electorate. 3.The Election Commission of India’s Model Code of Conduct, which bars any involvement of non-citizens or foreign entities in the electoral process. Jose Charles Martin has admitted to bringing the Deputy High Commissioner to meet voters in Vaitikuppam to offer “solutions” to local issues. This is a clear use of foreign diplomatic presence to influence voters during an ongoing election. The Election Commission of India must take immediate cognizance and disqualify Jose Charles Martin. The Ministry of External Affairs must summon the concerned diplomat and seek an explanation. @ECISVEEP @MEAIndia India’s electoral process cannot be allowed to be influenced by foreign entities under any circumstances. #DisqualifyMartin #ForeignInterference #PuducherryElections

The Deputy Consul General of Sri Lanka for South India, Mr. Ganesanathan Ketheeswaran, was invited by Latchiya Jananayaga Katchi (LJK) chief Jose Charles Martin to meet fishermen in the Vaithikuppam area of Puducherry and hear their grievances. The BJP’s Puducherry President and their Raj Bhavan constituency candidate, V. P. Ramalingam was also present at the event. This is a gross violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which states that foreign diplomats “have a duty not to interfere in the internal affairs of that State.” Both India and Sri Lanka are signatories to this Convention. Questions arise: 1.⁠ ⁠Will the sleeping beauty of the ECI - Gyanesh Kumar Gupta - issue a notice to LJK and the BJP for hosting a diplomat at a political event? 2.⁠ ⁠Will @DrSJaishankar issue a demarche to the diplomat? 3.⁠ ⁠Or will both remain silent because Martin and his party have been hired by the BJP to do its dirty work?
