I’ve never flown first class and I really don’t see the appeal.
It doesn’t even look much different.
I’m not going to eat/drink on the plane anyway.
There’s a bit more leg room which is certainly somewhat appealing but not the difference of first class and economy appealing.
What am I missing?
@kbssidhu1961 With all due respect Sir, quite disingenuous of you to copy @KobeissiLetter 's tweet, verbatim. Doesn't hurt to simply retweet this.
Reinforces my perceived beliefs of folks who go out of the way to put "IAS" in their handle.
What just happened?
At 2:30 PM ET, CBS reported Trump was weighing “boots on the ground” in Iran.
At 3:43 PM ET, Trump said, “I don’t want to do a ceasefire with Iran,” and the S&P 500 printed a fresh 2026 low.
Then came the real twist.
Just 90 minutes later, at 5:13 PM ET, Trump said the US was “considering winding down” the war with Iran.
But the market had already sniffed something out.
Between 3:43 PM and 5:13 PM, the S&P 500 had already surged nearly 1% with no obvious headline trigger.
By 6:15 PM ET, the index was up 1.8% from the low, erasing the panic and adding roughly $900 billion in market cap.
Headline chaos. Violent reversal. Massive risk-on swing.
Now the market goes dark until Monday.
@lksmth Ok -- in that case, you've posted figures that aren't accurate. 127 mil is the population of Punjab, Pakistan. Punjab, India, has a population of 30 mil. The ratio you've posted is from the 2001 census. Please look up ratio from the latest census.
india's state of punjab has 127,000,000 people.
there are 895 females per 1,000 males.
why?
they abort their daughters.
yep.
why do we have immigration with these people?
@PhDemetri@dhillon_stats Agreed, and probably most people don't save for a roof repair. Which makes it feel like not a real expense that costs you $x per month and should be added to your housing costs in your comparison.
@PhDemetri That assumes the renter will invest the remainder of the disposable income. An eye opener for me was the hen I realized ECON is less about money, returns etc, but more about human behavior.
Having a mortgage, one's forced to put away that money. With renting, this is a choice
Most buy vs rent calculators seem to neglect the opportunity cost of investing avg interest payment + avg maintenance and property taxes
And this makes renting WAY more appealing
@brandenflasch@alpitronic Heard a similar sentiment from @tommolog that we'll be seeing them around soon and permitting and installation could be a matter of weeks? What about them makes them easy to deploy?
Yesterday marked the opening of a new chapter in DCFC in North America with the grand opening of @alpitronic in Charlotte, NC. You'll start to see them in the field very soon.
@asidhu_ Not surprised he would say this. Hurricane Harvey left thousands without a shelter to sleep in and he refused to open the doors to his massive church, only to open it later after a massive social media backlash. theguardian.com/us-news/2017/a…
@EvolveElectric_ Are you charging on a dryer plug (NEMA 14-30R)? I wish more people understood this -- if you have a dryer plug at home, you have a reliable EV charging solution at home where you can juice up your car while you sleep.
Visiting family in rural Wyoming. The route we had to go, I haven’t been able to use public charging in over 250 miles + 6,000 ft of elevation change going over the Big Horn Mountains. This is my uncle helping make a pigtail so I can charge the Rivian. He’s a man of all trades 🙌
@KevinMelnuk but even if ALL level 3 chargers were outputting their max capacity and all public L2s were being used, the would use 667Mw of energy. The reserves at any given time of the year in Texas are 3000-7000Mw. So it's basically a non starter argument.
@KevinMelnuk The Texas NEVI website had a nice section about this. Basically, it's really hard to estimate EV consumption right now since people may charge at different times and level 3 chargers may charge at different rates depending on SOC
I’ve never understood why people think EVs will crash the grid, or the grid can’t handle them, etc. when charging an EV is like turning on your electric dryer.
The Burj Kalifa draws over 10MW constantly or enough to level 2 1,300 EVs at the same time 24/7.
Just doesn’t make sense to me.
Another dumb argument?
