Can one person change the culture of an organization?
Yes.
We all know that can definitely happen in a negative way. One person can shift the energy of a room, school, or an organization, to make it worse than what it was before.
The opposite can be true as well.
I saw individuals shift the culture of entire rooms in moments by bringing their energy and people fed off their enthusiasm, and the dynamic of the culture changed in moments.
We often discuss culture like it’s someone else’s responsibility but culture is made up of people.
And eventually that one person who can bring a positive light to an organization can diminish their own.
No matter how optimistic, joyful and passionate a person can be, never assume they are “good.” Check in on people even when they seem like they don’t need it, because often they do.
One person can move the culture ahead in a positive direction, but that individual might also need your energy to keep them going.
Education is about elevation and whether you are positive or negative, it is contagious? Which one will you be?

Peyton Manning said, “The attitude with which we approach the situation can determine our success or failure.”
Your attitude is a choice.
A positive attitude is a choice for hope and belief.
A negative attitude is a choice for negativity and problems.
There will always be adversity, but it's your attitude and mindset that will determine how far you go.
Your attitude can turn a difficult situation into an opportunity.
You have to fight your brain because it will always have a bias towards negativity.
You need to rise above that negativity with a daily mindset and attitude of resilience, improvement, and gratitude.
6 Ways To Improve Your Attitude:
1. Transform Negative Self-Talk
Replace your negative thoughts with positive affirmations. Your words are powerful, especially the words that you speak to yourself. Studies by the Journal of Cognitive Enhancement highlight that positive self-talk can enhance confidence and reduce stress.
2. Create an Attitude of Gratitude
Spend time thinking about the positive aspects of your life. Feed yourself positivity, gratitude, and greatness instead of listening to complaining, negativity, and doubt. Research shows that practicing gratitude daily can lead to improved mood and overall well-being.
3. Stay Present - BE HERE NOW
All we have is the present moment. When you focus on the present, you reduce stress and anxiety because you aren’t worrying about the past or anxious about the future. Your attitude and mindset depends on your ability to be mindful of your environment.
4. Create Positive Moments and Connect
Connect with others and spend time with the people that you like. When you have an attitude of connection, you look for positivity and realize your effect on others. You also realize that others bring you support in those times of need.
5. Believe in Yourself and Your Future
Cultivate self-belief. Research has shown that having a positive self-view predicts better psychological well-being. When you believe in your future, you take ownership and responsibility for your choices and actions because you believe they will affect your future.
6. Prioritize What's Within Your Control
Take ownership and control what you can control. When you realize that you can control your mindset and attitude, you start to view external challenges for what they are, just challenges. Have a growth-mindset and believe that you can grow and improve.
"Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms - to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s way."
- Viktor Frankl

@PrincipalProj I have a Google form link in every weekly staff letter that asks “What do you want Mr. D to know or work on?” It’s anonymous and gives them a constant place to give suggestions and feedback.

@DrBradJohnson Sometimes that is sadly not the case…and it is the admin’s why to fight for all the kids’ right to be treated with love and respect, and fill their staff with teachers who will do that.
