My name is Richard Woodruff, I'm a 🇬🇧 British volunteer and I've been helping our heroes hold the front line in 🇺🇦 Ukraine for 4 years now, as a volunteer I don't get paid but still need to cover the roof over my head. I'm volunteering 17+ hours per day, 7 days per week so unfortunately don't have time for a "proper job", if you want to keep me going out here I'm trying to raise $500 a month for me to personally survive, nothing more, nothing less. Russia attacked Ukrainian cities on March 16 – again. In Zaporizhzhia, rescuers pulled two people from the rubble. At least three others were injured, and tragically, one person was killed. On March 15, Zaporizhzhia was targetted too – Russia injured 18 civilians and killed one more person. Ukraine needs more air defence missiles and systems to prevent this horror. Strengthening Ukraine’s air defence is essential to save lives.

I’m not in a very good place mentally right now.. Two years ago around this time I went through one of the hardest weeks of my life. In just a few days I lost a lot of guys from the units I was helping. A lot of friends. Some died during the assault, some when they were already coming back from it. That was the time when I got my tattoo .. the one with the actual handwriting from the only guy who survived there. “vse bude dobre.” Everything will be alright. For me that week was the beginning of losses… Back then I remember looking at the guys around me and thinking… how can they take losses so “easily”? How can they keep functioning like this? And they all told me the same thing: “Just wait. It will become easier for you too.” I remember thinking that would never happen. Because if it did, it would mean I had become heartless but now… I understand exactly what they meant. At some point your brain just can’t process it anymore. It stops treating every loss as something your heart can fully carry. And slowly it turns into numbers, into statistics. It sounds awful to say it out loud, but it’s the truth. When it first happened I watched those videos probably a hundred times. Over and over again. My brain just refused to believe it. How can someone you spent almost a week … be dead two weeks later? It felt unreal. Now it’s the opposite. I refuse to watch any of that…
