Hi everyone, My name is Richard Woodruff. I’m a slightly mad British volunteer here in Ukraine, doing my best to support our Ukrainian heroes on the front lines. First, a huge thank you for sticking with me through all 1,417 days of this journey. You’ve read all 21,230 of my tweets - that’s either incredible loyalty or you need a better hobby! Either way, I’m genuinely grateful. I’m about to start my fifth year here, and as you can see, the job is starting to show. I used to have a face… now I have “character.” Every new wrinkle is a souvenir from showing up when it mattered. I’ve never looked the other way, and I never will. Ukraine has become my home, and I wear this tired, crumpled mug with pride. My biggest hope is that I won’t have to tweet for the next five years and that you won’t have to read them. But if this war drags on and my face keeps sliding south, I’ll still be here, doing what I can and trying not to let you down. Thank you again for your kindness and support. You’ve been brilliant.

On 22 Feb, Dublin marked 4 years of Russia’s full-scale invasion with a peace march & rally supporting Ukraine. Ukrainians, Irish partners, politicians and diplomats stood united. Security of Ukraine is security of Europe. 🇺🇦 #StandWithUkraine

Just listened to it. Orwellian. Yet again. She falsely claimed they supported sanctions on Russia. She claimed it’s a waste of money for Ukraine to defend itself – just days after praising ‘defender of catholics’ Bik McFarlane. And called Sinn Féin’s position ‘principled’!

@EastVeterans In her defence, I was at the rally today and her words were head and shoulders above what the other politicians said. Better and more precise and even hawkier pro Ukraine language. There was also a contingent in the march from Labour and Soc Dems, but no other parties.

A 23-year-old policewoman died as a result of the explosion. 😪 Victoria Shpylka was from Volyn, and later moved to Kherson with her parents. She graduated from the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs and worked in the ranks of the patrol police, first in Kherson region, then in Lviv region. R.I.P. 🕯💔

🚨IOC statement 1/3 Skeleton pilot Vladylsav Heraskevych not allowed to participate at Milano Cortina 2026 after refusing to adhere to the IOC athlete expression guidelines Having been given one final opportunity, skeleton pilot Vladylsav Heraskevych from Ukraine will not be able to start his race at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games this morning. The decision followed his refusal to comply with the IOC’s Guidelines on Athlete Expression. It was taken by the jury of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) based on the fact that the helmet he intended to wear was not compliant with the rules. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has therefore decided with regret to withdraw his accreditation for the Milano Cortina 2026 Games. Despite multiple exchanges and in-person meetings between the IOC and Mr Heraskevych, the last one this morning with IOC President Kirsty Coventry, he did not consider any form of compromise. The IOC was very keen for Mr Heraskevych to compete. This is why the IOC sat down with him to look for the most respectful way to address his desire to remember his fellow athletes who have lost their lives following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The essence of this case is not about the message, it is about where he wanted to express it.
