Alan Moore probably just became bitter that his most popular character became a libertarian/right wing icon, and he probably saw a couple of fans at conventions that ticked him off, so he just shits on him these days.
He amplified all these traits for V and he also genuinely hates that he's seen as a hero as well.

@QuetzalPhoenix A lot going on here. To some extent, the trio of Rorschach/Ozymandias/Dr. M represent competing ethical paradigms: the one you agree with most depends on your philosophy about duty and human agency. Moore may not have agreed with Rorschach, but no reason why the audience can't.

@QuetzalPhoenix I think it is a consequence of some archetypes being too powerful to deconstruct. He wanted to make the vigilante characters unlovable but we respond to their sense of justice and anger at a world that lost it.
