I am horrified and angered by the swastikas painted on homes and synagogues in Queens, including on a plaque honoring survivors of Kristallnacht. This is not just vandalism — it is a deliberate act of antisemitic hatred meant to instill fear.

There is no place for antisemitism in Queens or anywhere in our city. I stand in solidarity with our Jewish neighbors. Their safety, dignity, and belonging are non-negotiable.

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating and I am confident those responsible will be held accountable.

@Ver1f13de @Tim30do @NYCMayor It is not slim, it is almost guaranteed in Europe and very likely in Europe - not being Islamophobic could easily get you killed in a European Muslim neighborhood.

While sadly Muslim culture seems to be more about hating and fighting "infidels" than about improving themselves.

Individual communities are run like coops and may interview people for "fit" - just like coops do in NYC. Also Fair Housing Act only applies to US properties obviously - most countries probably violate it

This evening in Manhattan, “The Great Israeli Real Estate Event” will be advertising land available for sale in Gush Etzion, a cluster of illegal West Bank settlements, while also making tax, legal, and banking services available for those who want to become settlers, according to the event’s publicly listed information. Despite the commercial and internationally illegal nature of the event -- the UN considers Gush Etzion to be an illegal settlement -- it is being hosted at a religious institution, Park East Synagogue on the Upper East Side. Previous events have drawn protesters and counter-protesters, leading to charges of antisemitism leveled at the protesters for demonstrating near a synagogue. The protesters have countered that it is inappropriate to use a religious institution to shield such a contentious practice. In the wake of previous protests, the New York City Council, with a veto-proof majority, in March passed legislation restricting such demonstrations.

You needn't even be a citizen to own land - so no discrimination The only discriminatory laws in the West Bank are the Palestinian Authority having the death penalty for selling land to Jews

@barbarismcrit afaik the sales are illegal not only under international law but also violate city and state anti-discrimination laws. i’m not sure if it’s something the city could prosecute themselves or if it would need to be referred to the state AG’s office but i think it’s being looked into

Does the mayor have any authority to actually do something about this? They are obviously violating the religious exemption part of tax law alongside itl law.
