tried an expired domain 301 redirect at this site & the traffic halved overnight
merged the root (homepage) into an inner page & copied pages over
should I;
a) remove redirect & see how long it takes for traffic to come back
b) leave it in place for a month & see what happens

Heads up! I'm seeing more sites that are seeing one day spikes of bot traffic in GA. If you see this, it's probably not related to the product review update.

Identify if your site was impacted by going to GA > All Traffic > Channels > click on Organic Search. If you see a version of 'bot-traffic' listed as a keyword, you have been hit with the bot. This has also been reported as showing up as a page called /bot-traffic.
