@glenngabe Agreed! My comment was more regarding on the reporting of the article, and the general sentiment in the industry around declining incentives, e.g. definemg.com/publishers-of-… Regardless, I appreciate you highlighting this

@CyrusShepard When you drop heavily during multiple major updates, that doesn't mean there's no incentive... They might have serious issues from a quality pov on their end (which is more than just content).

Wow. More major web publishers are preparing for the nuclear option of opting out of Google search. There's little incentive for them to remain

@jonathanwthomas Same. For news publishers, I suspect it could be different as ROI of feeding AI answers with free content isn't a business model they want to encourage

@CyrusShepard I don't get blocking them all together. It costs me nothing to stay in Google. The apocalypse has already happened. I'll happily take whatever scraps they still send me.
