I have a motion at tonight’s Cork City Council meeting that calls for a separation of Church and State, including ending the practice of opening Council meetings with a prayer. There is a time and place for religious worship, but I don’t think it is at Cork City Council meetings. The people who elected us come from all faiths and none. Therefore, having prayer and religious iconography in the chamber is inappropriate. We must create a modern, pluralist republic of equals with a clear separation of church and state.

@Nagser82 @MortimerMurphy1 Stop the abuse of our vulnerable elderly citizens and at least treat them with dignity and respect. We need to appreciate all they have done and how hard they have worked for this country. We hear stories like this daily.

I cannot believe how a hospital discharged an 83 year old man who can barely walk - with no transport - lives alone - and had to pay €150 for a taxi to get home. He needs a carer etc but nothing is arranged 🤷‍♂️- yet we are housing half of Europe 🙄

@pbmosligo @MortimerMurphy1 Because there is a deterioration in all hospital care in recent times due to shortage of money its obvious. greater numbers of people coming in at such high numbers add extra burden on finance and facilities, thats just a fact.
