I’m often asked what differentiates NEAR's Layer1 and how I think about its place in the broader Web3 eco––here’s a breakdown comparing different networks/layers in Web3 to traditional computing and the advantages & tradeoffs each offers.
@cosmos is like a datacenter building kit: you get shovels to dig your basement, you have networking cords to connect it to the internet, and you have the specs for racks, but you need to assemble it all yourself, power it up, and maintain it entirely yourself.
@NEARProtocol is more like cloud computing: a shared set of computers where you can launch your own service in seconds and you don't need to think about the datacenter at all. NEAR validators and governance can decide for you when more compute is needed and expand the network according to demand.
@solana is a mainframe: great for multiple processes that are sharing resources, but also means there is an inherent limit on capacity.
Rollups (right now) are like individual servers: anyone can spin one up, but they need to operate and maintain every aspect (or it may stop from time to time). Capacity is limited on each individual server, too.
There is space for all of these, depending on developers’ needs and preferences, but we need to abstract ALL of this for users so they can just go to the app and use it.
@CoinbaseAssets Why is this listed and not $pepe? Please explain why things we haven't heard of get listed before something that generates more volume and trading fees on your platform
Seamless (SEAM) is now live on coinbase.com & in the Coinbase iOS & Android apps with the Experimental label. Coinbase customers can log in to buy, sell, convert, send, receive or store these assets. coinbase.com/price
@NEARProtocol is opening up its sharded, high-performance blockchain to scale Ethereum through NEAR Data Availability (DA)!
But how is this accomplished?
Let's take a deep dive into this topic. 🧵
JUST IN: China has reportedly deployed multiple warships to the Middle East region after the United States deployed two carrier strike groups.
Up to 6 Chinese warships were reportedly deployed including two advanced 052D destroyers.
The news comes as the United States has prepared to deploy more troops to the region. The exact number is currently unknown.
"I will continue to assess our force posture requirements in the region and consider deploying additional capabilities as necessary," said Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
It didn’t have to be this way…
imagine taking xanax when instead you can just:
- meditate 10 minutes
- take a cold shower
- eat 3 pasture raised eggs
- eat 1g grass fed beef liver
- eat 1g grass fed beef testicle
- eat 1g grass fed beef blood
- eat 1lb of grass fed beef ribeyes steaks
- cook it with beef tallow
- base it with grass fed butter
- drink raw milk
- do 30-90 minutes of intense lifting
- walk outside for 30 minutes
- wear blue blocking sunglasses at night to mitigate your circadian rhythm being disrupted
- journal 1000 words a day
- pray at night
- get 8 hours of sleep
@Elizabe32413720@AlanRos55864463 I’m commenting because it was in my newsfeed for some reason. And, you posed an open question. What are we trying to see here? I don’t believe it was a “hit” for a second & I’m convinced 911 was an inside job. I don’t trust any government but after all this time? #NothingBurger
@elonmusk Hi @elonmusk who should I talk to at Twitter about this “payment processor” you speak of. I work at an infinitely scalable Layer 1 protocol and would love to share how we can help
For the next 12 months, Twitter will keep none of the money.
You will receive whatever money we receive, so that’s 70% for subscriptions on iOS & Android (they charge 30%) and ~92% on web (could be better, depending on payment processor).
After first year, iOS & Android fees drop to 15% and we will add a small amount on top of that, depending on volume.
We will also help promote your work. Our goal is to maximize creator prosperity.
At any point, you can leave our platform and take your work with you. Easy in, easy out.
