“I'm obviously flawed. I obviously make mistakes and sometimes go too far with how badly I want it, but I'll never be accused of not putting every single thing I have into trying to make this program the best. I pour every single part of myself into the job, and my fans know that.” - Dan Hurley

I vividly remember halftime of UConn’s elite eight game vs MSU in 2014. Barkley said the Huskies were lucky to be in the game and that the Spartans would roll in the second half. Very few things make me more confident in UConn than Charles Barkley picking against us.
Awful Announcing@awfulannouncing

Charles Barkley: "I'll be honest with you- I don't think it's going to be a close game. I think Illinois is going to beat [UConn] pretty good." 🏀🎙️#MarchMadness #FinalFour

@HuskyTurned Dang. You’re correct. Either way, Barkley’s halftime analysis proved very wrong.

The names change, but this machine keeps humming along. Even when the odds are next to none, there always is a way because there’s a will. A reflection on Connecticut:

The UConn Huskies might not be the BEST team entering this year’s Final Four, but they are the most DANGEROUS. Why? Despite winning 2 of the last 3 national championships. Despite having a coaching staff and multiple players who have won those titles. Despite being the premier program in college basketball right now, they enter today as UNDERDOGS. Underdogs against Illinois. The worst odds of all four teams to cut down the nets in Indianapolis. Here’s the scary thing for everyone else in Indy: the Huskies love playing this role. They love being counted out. They thrive with a chip on their shoulder. That’s the program Jim Calhoun built, and the one Dan Hurley has turned back into a juggernaut. And that’s exactly how this team enters this Final Four - the underdogs. Despite a shot at all-time history, 3 titles in a 4 year span, UConn is playing with house money. Let’s see what happens.

If it’s a question of overall season/career, prob not top 3 or even 4. But if he leads this team to a title, I think he goes to No. 1 in terms of NCAAT performances. Reed has carried them. Huskies don’t get past Furman without him. They definitely don’t stay in the Duke game without him.

Debate I’ve been having… is @TarrisReedJr currently playing like a top 3 all time center at UConn? Before March, my list was: 1 Emeka 2 Sanogo 3 Clingan But, If he continues to dominate and we win on Monday, I think he could have the 🐐 Tournament performance, which is WILD!

Something that won’t be talked about with this play is just how unselfish this was by Alex Karraban Potentially the last game of your college career, most guys chuck up a prayer. Instead he trusts the freshman with an open look Great teammate

men, 2026 is the time to get our shit together. the modern world has made human slop of us. fertility rates are down 62%. metabolic disease afflicts 35%. obesity has hit 40%.  63% are not having sex weekly. testosterone is dropping 1% every year. 42% over forty have erectile dysfunction. sexlessness has doubled to 24%. enough. fucking enough. reject fast food, junk food, vaping, gambling, porn, nicotine, sleep deprivation, phone addiction, and excessive scrolling. these are your enemies. this is dopamine extraction. they are mining you for profit and leaving you weak and miserable. they are predators and you are their prey. no, not just this once. no, not in moderation. no, it’s not living life. it’s suicidal and deranged behavior. sleep. get jacked. eat well. set limits. be consistent. build the schedule. put on autopilot. don’t let your mind rationalize. replace inner weakness with systems strength. don’t listen to other people’s criticisms. they’re projecting their own stuff onto you. straighten up. let it roll off of you.  be great. be unabashedily you. maintain friendships with those who make you better. who inspires you to be your best self. do not continue to hang out with people who encourage debauchery. maintain good posture. stand tall. get up from your desk and walk around, stretch, do light exercises. do these things to reclaim your self respect. be a sovereign person. do not be owned by evil companies or influence. do not listen to the critics. build your life systems. make them habits. don’t let yourself talk you out of it. as you gain strength, it will require less energy to maintain.

An Optimist's Rebellion (1.1.26) I rebel. I rebel against what the world has to say. About me. About you. About everything. I rebel against the chaos culture. The one that says we must fit in, follow the common path. The one that preys on our worst fears. And tells us things are only getting worse. I rebel. I rebel against the voices that tear us apart. The forces that always find someone to blame. And never anyone to praise. I rebel against the politics of anxiety. The politics of division. I rebel against the technology that pulls me deeper into its suffocating web. The lights and noise that fill my head and heart. So that I no longer see myself - or the world I was made for. I rebel. I will begin to see that world again. To find it where it's hidden. I will hear music. See beauty. Think deeply. I will embrace silence, solitude, simplicity. I will begin to see purpose and hope in the midst of pain. I will believe that - against all odds - things are going to get better. I will work toward that future. I will pass that future on to my daughters. I will teach it to my son. I will bring others with me. I rebel against the darkness. I will live in the light. I rebel.

As a UConn fan and CSU alum, I’m as surprised as anyone that Jim Mora is leaving for Colorado State. I’m also thrilled. CSU has as high a ceiling as almost any non-power conference program. Great city. Great stadium. Plenty of resources. Plus the new Pac 12. Getting Mora as coach, though, is far better than what I expected. Phenomenal hire for the Rams. And the Huskies? They’ll be just fine. Program on the rise.

I’ve had a few questions about UConn tonight. (Sorry, I was out and about, and didn’t catch much action.) But yes, UConn set the record tonight for the fastest #AnalyticallyFinal vs. a D-1 opponent since I began tracking the metric in 2014. The Huskies crossed that threshold at the 5:29 mark of the first half, leading UMass Lowell, 53-7. It broke the previous mark set by South Dakota State, who went #AnalyticallyFinal at the 4:13 mark of the first half on 12/11/2018, leading (then D-1) Savannah State, 75-31.
