Hello Everyone! 👋👓 📢 Today, I am very excited to announce a new chapter in my career. I’ve made the big decision to join Meta as a Developer Advocate 🎉 to support developers and products as well, all in an effort to help build the future of computing. Many of you know that I’ve been creating YouTube content specifically for XR over the last 5 years. For the first 3 years, it was a side hobby, but then I quit my developer job to focus 100% of my time on YouTube. I also launched Learn XR, where I’ve taught and continue to teach people around the world about VR and AR development. Honestly, it’s been a dream come true, and that part of my life isn’t changing. With my acceptance of the position at Meta, you'll see me more at events and on Meta-owned channels, continuing to support you in building for XR and beyond. 💡𝘿𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙏𝙪𝙗𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩? Absolutely not. I’ll keep creating content for years to come, that’s part of who I am. I love learning new tools, SDKs, programming languages / features, and sharing that knowledge with all of you. I’ll continue sharing on YouTube, X, Instagram, and other social platforms because I truly believe there will always be a need to help developers overcome barriers through educational content. 💡𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙄 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙤𝙣-𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩? Absolutely. I’ll be shifting my focus from hardware to purely development, which is how I started on YouTube. I made tons of AR Foundation and XR Toolkit videos that were hardware-agnostic, and I think that’s what made my channel so helpful to many of you. Moving forward, I’ll focus on XR tools within game engines, AI, and programming tips, as those apply to pretty much any device on the market. 💡𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙄 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙖? Ever since I started making XR content, I saw so much interest from so many different devs in building XR experiences, but the cost of entry into XR was incredibly high. XR devices were practically unreachable for indie developers or hobbyists. Meta has been lowering those barriers with more accessible hardware and tools. Their ability to move fast as a company, create amazing products, and pivot to make XR practical has been truly inspiring. In talking with the team, they really care about developer success. Your success will enable the future. You're going to build the cool and exciting experiences that will bring all the people to come back day after day. And, I'm excited to help you do it. This is a decision that took me half a year to make a reality. While I’ve loved working as a solo creator, I soon realized that to make a bigger impact, I needed to pivot. In my mind, this change will allow me to help even more people, not only through videos but also by participating in many future in-person events. I’ll continue making plenty of XR content (which I love), though probably not as much at first since I’m going through onboarding. But as I get more familiar with my new Dev Advocate role, I’ll gradually bring it back to a regular schedule while adding more content on Meta channels as well. I’m super excited about the 👓 FUTURE! and I can’t wait to keep helping you bring your ideas to reality! Best, Dilmer #developers #meta #xr

ICYMI this from my AMA yesterday. We’ve decided to retain existing Horizon Worlds in VR for the foreseeable future. I know this is a bit of whiplash just a few days after we announced something different, but Horizon has some real fans in the VR community and they encouraged us to reconsider our decision.
Mr. Getting Things Dun@jdunrrp

🚨 BREAKING: We Did It ‼️ 🚨 I asked Andrew Bosworth aka @boztank the question the horizon community has been wondering:👉🏾 Why can’t horizon Worlds still be in VR as a standalone app?” Answer: We Have Decided To Keep It For The Foreseeable Future ‼️ Here’s what that actually means 👇🏾 ✨ Existing worlds/games are still playable in VR built on the original horizon unity engine ✨ The social experience isn’t going anywhere we can still link up & explore existing worlds together ✨ June 15th is now not the last day for horizon worlds in VR. This has always been about community and connection… and that doesn’t change. Appreciate the community for speaking up 🗣️And respect to Boz for the clarity ✨ We’re still in VR … FOR NOW🥽✨ Looking Forward To More Info Soon!

I had an idea to build a tool before lunch and executed it after lunch, full website, completely dynamic, using a tech stack I am familiar with: Vue JS, done in exactly 20 mins 🤯

🎉Yeah my mini VR Game made it to the Meta Blog! Honestly, if you have a chance, start by taking a look at the Unity's AI Offering, they're currently in Beta but it will help you dramatically as you work on new VR/MR games or extend your existing ones. 📌 Here's the article where Meta showcases some of the tools we presented at GDC developers.meta.com/horizon/blog/g…

@Dilmerv What you need is a distributor agent with it's own name. "Hey Bob, ask Grok to _______" or even let it choose the best route.

These AI assistants are getting out of control. “Hey Meta” when I want to say “Alexa.” Then I have “Grok” in my car and get confused if I should say “Grok,” which I don’t, and need to just speak after it is activated. Am I alone here? 😅

@Dilmerv @RaelJamsesh Yes I'm serious. Unity AI beta can turn the 6 months endeavor of developing a game for 12-15 years old into just one month. And those are the high selling ones

@Dilmerv @RaelJamsesh I use it for my vr horror game and its awesome. It made things in a day where it would have taken me months 😂 I cannot believe it. My next game I'm gonna do it 100% with AI. I'll do those kids game that sell a lot in just 1 month and make 1M USD in less than 2 months. Can't wait

@UnseenRealityVR Thank you and I agree, VR gamedev is extremely promising, there are many parts of this beautiful craft that was once very complex “shaders” which I personally take advatage of with AI!

Last year I built a full Unity VR/MR demo for our talk and the Meta booth, and it took me around 3–4 weeks to complete. This year, with only a week left before GDC, I was definitely feeling the pressure. Surprisingly, I ended up building a full VR game with AI in just one day. The tech stack 👇

I normally take PTO days to work on YouTube content. I have been doing this for every single dev job I had in my career. Tomorrow, I’ll be taking one again to work on 2 videos: 🤖 Agentic workflows with MCPs in Unity + Meta MCP Extensions 😎 Getting started with Meta Rayban Display Development! I do this because I truly love this tech and have huge gut feeling that this is the future, providing these resources to devs early on will help the ecosystem overall.

**The STATE of VR in 2026!** VR is awesome technology! It is amazing to be fully immersed in a world, using your actual hands and body to take actions or just live in that world. GDC was last week, Meta invited me over as part of their Horizon Insiders program so I spent a lot of time watching talks and researching the current state of the VR industry and development which was something I was very unfamiliar with. The quick summary is how VR development is easier than ever before thanks to awesome tools, and the industry (while still being niche) has a lot of potential for growth in the coming years. 📢 GDC 2026 was epic this year! 🎉 Honestly, this event left me with so many great memories. I made incredible new friends, caught up with amazing existing ones, listened to developer feedback, and learned about a lot of exciting new games. It was also humbling to see so many people enjoy my part of the AI tools GDC talk. I truly appreciated all the positive feedback around our new MCP tools, and I also value hearing where we can improve, getting that kind of feedback in person is always incredibly helpful. Personally, I’m deeply excited about 2026 and beyond. I was moved to now be under @c_pruett leadership, and listening to his talk was truly inspiring. Hearing about where we’re heading with VR really energizes me. I can also confirm that we are heavily invested in VR this year, yes we’re also working on new hardware, just like he mentioned during his talk. Another area we’re heavily investing in is community and tools. On the community side, through Meta Horizon Start and the efforts I’ll personally be leading this year such as running the Meta Horizon Insiders program, and you will see me at a variety of events and supporting developers through hackathons. My biggest takeaway is this, this is the best moment to build for VR/MR. It may sound biased because I work at Meta, but it’s honestly not. I work very closely with our engineering teams, and I’ve seen firsthand how exponentially more productive you can be when using our AI tools. Because of that, I expect many developers to realize this and start building games at a much faster pace this year. I’ll be building as well. I’m excited to join this journey with all of you because I truly believe in XR and I know how talented this community is. Thank you ❤️ to everyone who came to GDC. I truly appreciate every single one of you building for Quest. 🙏🚀
