The BGAwards at Day 2 of the #BlockchainImpactForum marked the world’s first major public convention dedicated exclusively to blockchain for social and public good, a proud and historic milestone for the industry led by the BGA. Builders, investors, government and UN officials, and global changemakers filled the hall at Terminal13, Nordhavn to witness blockchain for good projects exhibit live, with high-impact pitches on the Impact Stage by BGA’s core projects across the BGA Incubation and Joint Funds. This panel revealed the SDG Blockchain Accelerator framework: 300+ applications, 50 teams accelerating, and a radical approach that's changing how we think about blockchain for impact 🌍 The Scale: 📊 300+ applications from UNDP country offices 🤝 70+ teams matched (challenge owners + solution makers) ✅ Cohort 1: 13 teams graduated (100% success rate) 🚀 Cohort 2: 37 teams currently accelerating 👥 500+ UNDP staff trained through Blockchain Academy What Makes This Different: Problem-First Approach "Most accelerators start with a pitch deck. This one started with a problem statement. Instead of chasing the next crypto unicorn, teams solve real development challenges." - Anke Liu The "Marriage Interview" Process "This is like a marriage interview. No other accelerator stress-tests relations between end user and product so early on. This gives higher chance of success for both parties." - Glenn Tan Free Labor as Validation Projects receive NO funding during accelerator. They work for free because problems are verified and real. This stress-tests viability on limited resources before post-accelerator support kicks in. Real Success Stories: 🇨🇴 Decaf (Colombia): Digitizing municipal payments with local government using @StellarOrg. "It's not just faster and cheaper. It builds transparency, audit trails. That transparency can change how communities and local governments interact around public funds." - Anke Liu 🇭🇹 Haiti (Kura + BOUSOL): Two startups forced to collaborate for first time. Digitizing savings groups + microfinance + merchants in disaster-prone, cash-based economy. "When hurricanes strike, financial access vanishes overnight.
