"Put land titles on the blockchain" is one of the oldest ideas in this space. Usually it's pitched as fixing bureaucracy. The more interesting version is about who the current system quietly fails. In much of the world, people legally inherit property, and then never receive it. Paper records, opaque procedures, and cultural practice combine to erase their claim. The law says they own it. The system makes sure they can't prove it. This is where a tamper-evident, transparent registry does something a filing cabinet can't: it makes a person's inheritance claim visible, dated, and hard to quietly rewrite. Researchers in #Pakistan are building exactly this: land and inheritance records designed first to protect female heirs. But here's the honest half. A blockchain can't fix a registry if the data entered into it is already corrupt or captured. It secures the record after entry, not the truth going in. The technology only helps where there's genuine will to enforce the rights it records. So the real work isn't the ledger. It's pairing it with the legal and institutional force to make the record mean something. Property rights on-chain aren't about efficiency. Done right, they're about making the invisible owner impossible to ignore. #BGADaily

That's a wrap on the BGA Spring Cohort 2026. 🌱 Over 12 weeks, we worked with projects applying #blockchain to real challenges: disaster response, humanitarian aid, plastic recovery, supply-chain traceability, and impact verification. The progress across the cohort: → Multiple six-figure investment commitments → A proposal approved targeting 500,000+ farmers → Over 200+ live reports from a disaster-response pilot → Government, NGO, and investor conversations advanced But the real progress wasn't only in the numbers. Teams sharpened positioning, tested assumptions, built clearer commercial models, and got focused on the evidence needed to scale. The end of incubation isn't the end of the journey. Roughly 1 billion people worldwide cannot prove who they are. No birth certificate, no ID, no official record they exist. Without proof of identity, you can't open a bank account, enrol in school, access healthcare, claim aid, or cross a border legally. They become, functionally, invisible to every system built in society. This is one of the clearest, most human problems #blockchain was actually built to address. A portable, user-owned digital identity, one that lives with the person, not with any single government or agency they might have to flee, lets someone carry proof of who they are across borders, camps, and institutions. Deployments are already running: refugee ID pilots in Thailand with the International Rescue Committee, financial identity for the displaced across Sub-Saharan Africa. The @UN's own SDGs set a target: legal identity for everyone on earth by 2030. The honest version of "blockchain for good" was never just about disrupting finance. It was about making the invisible visible... and giving a billion people a way to prove they exist.

Trust is becoming the defining question of our technological age. And trust has always been the currency of diplomacy. At the Forum on Cultural Diplomacy in the @UN in Geneva, our Director of Global Affairs @jg13nn met with foreign ministers, UN ambassadors, and parliamentarians to examine where emerging technology and international cooperation intersect. Glenn's session urged policymakers to treat #blockchain infrastructure not as a technical afterthought, but as a foundation for trust in the public systems that shape public good as AI reshapes how societies communicate and govern. The link is closer than it appears. In an age where AI can fabricate a historical event, forge a voice, or falsify a record in seconds, cultural diplomacy becomes a question of verification: proving what is real, building verification into records and upholding the right to an authentic identity. The work of the Alliance continues as we lead our efforts in #BlockchainForGood.

At @DutchBlockWeek, our Director of Global Affairs @jg13nn joined a panel on national blockchain adoption with Juan Carlos Reyes (President, El Salvador's National Digital Assets Commission) and Michal Ptáčník (legal counsel, Liberland). The conversation ran deep, into understanding El Salvador's positioning and mindset behind making #Bitcoin legal tender to how a micronation runs governance on-chain. Having a vantage point from BGA programmes and engagements with global governments and UN agencies on #blockchain impact, Glenn discussed on the realities of the industry: ➡️ A wallet given to citizens is not inclusion; it's access, but that's a major start where El Salvador did well. The unbanked lack trust, identity, and infrastructure, not an app. ➡️ Differentiating real national blockchain adoption from a simple press release boils down to whether such adoption survives a change of government regime, if there is infrastructure underneath, and who actually benefits. It was an open and honest conversation about where the reality actually stands and the direct perspectives from a country. Our thanks to the DBW team for organising this and having us part of it.

We're just at the cusp of the end of our incubation Spring 2026 cohort. Last week’s check-in became a mini demo day. We saw disaster-response dashboards, humanitarian aid verification workflows, supply chain traceability systems, industrial asset records, and plastic recovery verification infrastructure. Everyone now has a robust, viable product. That shift matters. At this stage of an incubator, momentum has to become visible. A strong narrative is important, but founders also need to show the workflow, the user journey, the customer pain, and the evidence that the product can work in the real world. We asked builders to go beyond profitability and think of #impact at the recent @encodeclub AI & Trading Strategy hackathon. 15 teams answered. One stood out. 🏆 Congratulations to our winner, CarbonShift! Carbon markets are meant to fund the planet's recovery. Right now they fund mistrust; £10k and up paid for soil audits price out small farmers, and buyers can't verify what they're buying. CarbonShift fixes both sides: → Farmers run AI models locally on their own data — never exposed to a central authority → Credits issued conservatively via a "Confidence Haircut": 100 tonnes at 82% confidence = only 82 issued → Every decision logged on-chain, permanently auditable → Fixed-rate trading. No front-running, no hidden spreads. Built in 24 hours. The highest PnL was never the goal. The best system was. This is what combining #blockchain and #AI for good looks like in practice. #BGAHackathon

Here's an uncomfortable truth about #blockchain education: most of the world isn't lacking it because the subject is too hard. It's lacking it because almost no one is teaching the right version. What spreads easily is the speculative version, how to trade, how to ape, how to chase a token... What barely exists is the foundational version: what the technology actually does, where it helps, and where it doesn't. A handful of major players are starting to change that: ➡️ New Zealand is mandating blockchain literacy in its national curriculum. ➡️ @UNDP is building a Government Blockchain Academy to train public servants. ✨ And @helen_abfinance runs the #CEOForum to connect direct with students to educate on the work and ideas that matter. These efforts treat #crypto and blockchain as infrastructure to understand, not an asset to gamble on. The real divide isn't between those who own crypto and those who don't. It's between those taught to understand the technology behind and those taught only to speculate on it. #BGADaily
