Inside Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur we see amazing examples of giving back to nature. Here, a building inside one of their research complex has been repurposed as a refuge for plants and other wildlife.😉

Brown-headed Barbet (photo) (bare orange skin around the eye, tiny buff spots on the shoulder) is fairly common in Terai plains. It is replaced by Lineated Barbet (limited and yellower bare skin around the eye, lighter lineation on the breast) in the east and inner Terai #Nepal

Spotted Forktail, inhabits the mid-hills, and is the largest of Nepal's 4 forktail sps. Forktails are very special passerines confined to Asia only. Fondly remember the 1990s with @SebinNature @waterlevels @forktails & @SteveOrmerod working on river birds of Nepal🇳🇵😀❤️

This fellow has a lot of leucistic feathers, around its head but most noticeable on its wings. This bird has been here @lbgresort for the last two years and hope it continues for many more. This year they also raised a Common Hawk Cuckoo--a bit of strain for them!

Jungle Babbler is a common breeding resident of lowland #Nepal. There are 2 flocks @lbgresort totalling 20 birds. They practice cooperative breeding behavior. When the 2 flocks meet a bit of frenzy goes on for a while. One member looks different, will share it in my future posts.

Highly prosecuted canid in road-kill.
Hem Sagar Baral@WorshipNature

Spending a few days @lbgresort with family. I hear the jackals but their presence is thinner now. Jackals are one of the most persecuted wild animals in our region and are common road-kill animals, yet they have managed to thrive. Let's leave a little space for wildlife 🙏🦉❤️!

Why do wolves seek out areas with people to hunt and kill deer fawns? Long thread about our new research showing how human infrastructure influence wolf-deer relationships.

The bamboo groves and mango orchards at the entrance and exit of villages in Nepal's southern plains are on the verge of vanishing as the narrow streets are being replaced by black-topped roads and the mud-bamboo houses are being replaced by concrete ones. #EverydayNepal

I'm deeply saddened by Colin Smith's passing. I've known him since 2000 and supported his 2010 publication, "Lepidoptera of Nepal." His contribution to Nepal's butterflies and moths is invaluable. Let us continue his legacy. Praying for peace 🙏 @HimalayanNature

Nepal has 8 sps of storks, most are breeding residents. Black Stork is a regularly occurring migratory stork to Nepal. Right now these are migrating south as the reports pour in from Nepali birders in Nepal Bird Forum. Storks are one of the largest flying birds in the world 😀🇳🇵
