@HannaEK6 Thank you for transcribing one of my "WTF SUOMI" talking-to-myself rants, @EvilJoeMcVeigh. I feel seen.

@IanFortey @ask_aubry I, female woman Not Marvin/Boobet - wait, no, Bigbooba - am so undeserving of a man e.g. Marvin because he told me that I should not be a Stacy and give him a chance because he will try REALLY HARD to do sex and also smart unlike me, a WOMANNNNNN

@SGUYBRAY More thoughts, fewer thoughts - whatever it takes for you to finish it so that I can read it! Sounds fascinating
(A thing I'm learning to do is record thoughts and file them away without allowing myself to get pulled in every direction. *Learning*, not yet succeeding.)

@DrBrainNerd Why can't I do all the stuff from my bed stupid societal...and other conventions

@CallistusAkello @PhDVoice @PhDfriendSana Oh god, yet another and perhaps the most important reason I don't do quantitative
English

When you have to hold down the mouse button, for almost 10 straight minutes, to select around 230,000 Excel dataset entries. Then repeat for 12 data files 🥱 The most boring part of quantitative data analysis.☹️ Any suggestions on how to make it faster? @PhDVoice @PhDfriendSana

@Lg_on_the_Move A common story here in Finland. Based on anecdotes/some familiarity with ongoing research, migrant woman are encouraged to become practical nurses. Extremely important work, but so labor-intensive and not for everyone. It's hard to see people's competences erased like that 💔
English

Meet each of the 130 migrants in our book over the next months in a serialized Twitter thread 🧵
First up: Katja from Poland
Katja’s engineering degree was not recognized in Australia. She retrained as a beautician. Tremendous skills loss for herself and our society 😞

Language on the Move@Lg_on_the_Move
Life in a new language - it's been 20 years in the making and today we submitted the book manuscript!🎉 Explores the language learning and settlement trajectories of 130 migrants to Australia from 34 countries; data-sharing across 6 ethnographies; amazing co-authors 😍 1/4

@Lg_on_the_Move @OUPAcademic @mkeffer @VeraWilliamsTe1 @ShivaMotaghi @MQLinguistics @Macquarie_Uni Congratulations on submitting the results of a long and vital effort! So looking forward to this - I lived for a while in Finnish and life only began to resemble one I wanted when things led me to live/work primarily in English. So important to hear from those without a choice.

@adhdjesse This is an interesting discussion that I find kinda surprising! I wonder if some of the test-takers were in part stimulated by the task itself. Even the most exciting, stimulating task type/format could overcome my disinterest in a topic. The opposite was probably true! 😂
English

@adhdjesse Ahahahaha! I filled in random answers on standardized tests from the ages of roughly 8 - 18. I liked hyperfocusing on homework in subjects that interested me, though.
English

@ProfKevin @AcademicChatter Yeah, but doesn’t this response tacitly reinforce a truncated view of progress that reflects a non-humanities, “hard science” ideology?
English

@AcademicChatter I reject the idea that university education is primarily about change/progress. Even apart from its privileging of non-humanities fields, it buys into a sad, truncated view of the human person.
