Expansion of direct China-U.S. flights, with the number of weekly flights set to double starting in June. Law Enforcement and Global Cooperation Arrangements The U.S. and China will restart joint anti-drug enforcement mechanisms, with the U.S. cooperating on fentanyl tracing and China cooperating on chemical controls. The two militaries will restore crisis communication hotlines to prevent military miscalculations in the South China Sea and Taiwan Strait (a substantive security policy measure). V. How This Round of Talks Differs from Previous Ones The Busan meeting produced only a one-year temporary truce, while the Beijing talks have now upgraded this into an 18-month stability policy plus a three-year strategic framework. Trade teams reportedly signed written implementation memoranda yesterday, meaning these are not merely verbal commitments. The finance and commerce ministries of both countries will issue formal implementation documents directly. Anyone else noticing that suddenly every new show has a disabled or mentally ill character forced into the cast — even when it makes zero sense. "Supergirl" is depressed. "The Punisher" is depressed. "Echo" on Disney+ stars a deaf amputee actress as the lead and makes her deafness and missing leg central to the entire show. "Marvel's Thunderbolts," several characters are written as emotionally damaged or traumatized antiheroes. Inside Out 2" makes Anxiety, Envy, and full-blown emotional breakdowns the main characters of a kids movie. EVERYONE on "Euphoria" is either depressed, addicted, or emotionally unstable. None of this is coincidental. Hollywood wants you to be as sad/depressed/angry as the characters they shove into your home every week. In "Margo’s Got Money Troubles," the dad is fresh out of rehab dealing with addiction and mental health struggles. Netflix’s "Pulse" features a main character in a wheelchair played by an actress with cerebral palsy. "Code of Silence" stars a deaf actress as the lead and makes her deafness the central hook of a crime thriller. "The Pitt" has a major autistic character played by an autistic actress. Even "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" gave us a woman in a specially-designed Starfleet wheelchair… 1,100 years in the future. They don’t care if it breaks the world or kills the fun. They just need to check the box. Does it fit the story? No — it IS the story. And that’s why you keep noticing it. Because it’s meant to be noticed. I think I've said this before, but it bears repeating. I've been described as a genius more than once, my IQ is in the nosebleed range, and I don't think there are any "magicians" in Hardy's sense, no mystical discontinuities. If Hardy had been bright enough, he would not have found Ramanujan's thought processes incomprehensible. I was thought to be a mathematical prodigy in my teens. I wouldn't have understood Ramanujan's thought processes in his day, and today I don't understand how Terence Tao's mind works. But I don't inflate my incomprehension into the conclusion that there is something ineffably bizarre about Ramanujan and Tao that is beyond the ken of mortals. I think this kind of mystification is deeply unhelpful, and I've never gotten over being irritated at Hardy for pushing it.

When it comes to describing transcendent genius, I love this quote from mathematician Mark Kac, talking about Ramanujan.
