there's one element of my design workflow today that I definitely did not see coming... a year ago I thought I would be making a (functional) mess in code and then dialing in the details in Figma turns out the opposite thing happened? instead I typically start by ideating with Claude inside of @paper maybe I'll make some manual tweaks but more often I'm simply getting to a rough concept that feels directional correct the canvas has become my whiteboard and the output is rarely any higher fidelity than the example video above 🤷‍♂️ at this point I have Claude quickly scaffold the concept I like the most and start to dial in the details in code two tools I use constantly: 1) Agentation 2) DialKit that combo move speeds up frontend iteration immensely also Claude is SO good at extrapolating styles. Sometimes I say things like "use our tertiary button styles but extrapolate the inner shadows to make them higher contrast for this large card" and it freaking works not only that but the way I use inner shadows, border rings, etc. takes forever to create manually (or forever to create a system large enough to not be rigid in Figma). I'm genuinely faster in code which I never saw coming. dialing in the visuals in code also brings motion and interaction details into the process. how things move and feel is now 100% included in "UX Design" finessing in code gives me wayyy more control than I've ever had as a designer

made a video about how i built a website with face tracking tried to share everything i had in 3:50: how the idea came together, figma layouts, prompts, the full tech stack, and how i drew the illustrations (built it with codex + claude code in cursor, three.js mediapipe matter.js.)

To promote, you must provoke. Look for this principle on anything that went viral. Stand-up comedians and rappers seem to be able to do it on the fly. George Lois mastered it.

We modified the concept car Jeep Zulu to showcase the capabilities of the platform, going from a rally racing vehicle to a tactical machine, capable of long-distance rally racing in harsh conditions for edge seeking racers.

Forge is an XR generative design platform for Jeep vehicles, enabling users to voice-command customizations and generate AI-driven upgrades tailored to their needs. They can visualize, refine, and 3D print components in real-time, transforming their vehicles.

@hobdaydesign Perhaps if a shorter version of the heading showed up on the nav bar it might negate the feeling of it opening up the heading again

I like this idea of a hero section that disappears into the navigation bar as you scroll, so I mocked it up in Figma. But this might work a bit better with a desktop navigation bar, as this makes me feel like tapping the menu button would slide open the hero again.

Fantastic use of the page turn transition in the onboarding flow for @retrodotapp. Gives the tagline a visual metaphor, while calling back to the old photo albums everyone used to have. A private place to share unedited memories with close friends.

@hobdaydesign Could you share an example where there was an elegant solution for this issue?

Here's this exact problem in Notion. This is not a criticism of Notion. Like I say, it's a hard challenge. And I think it's made more likely by component based design systems. Each component looks good on its own, but when you put them together you get awkward combinations.

If you want minimal tabs like this they present a hard visual design challenge. Ideally the text is centred in each tab, but then you get an awkward reading line because the title, tab name, and content don't align on the left.

If you're interested, here's what I do to keep on top of the world of interface design. 1) I subscribe to two newsletters: HeyDesigner (heydesigner.com) UX Design Weekly (uxdesignweekly.com) I open all of the links and scan through them to see if they interest me.

@gabbart_ Interesting choice that the option “Untalented” starts animating from a lower vertical position than other options on the list. Curious about the thought behind this

This week’s focus will be the Unknown website. There are so many details I want to get right on this site before launching it. Right now I’m working on the menu. I want to make the animation smoother and faster (feels too long), change the hover effect, and animate the lines.
