With 2025 Bowman’s Best around the corner, it felt like a good time to revisit last year’s release for a little throwback analysis. I did crunch the numbers back then, but that was before my breakdowns took their current shape. So I figured it might be a good time to give 2024 Bowman's Best the full Squatch treatment. 2024 Bowman's Best Analysis Bowman’s Best is usually one of the easier products to get excited about. The checklist is almost always loaded. With the standard 70 vets/rookies and 30 top prospects, boxes are packed with names collectors actually want to see and with minimal 28-year-old long relief pitchers. Similar in dynamics to Finest, this is a Hobby-only, single-format release with a relatively light print run. One difference is, though Best also ditched the dual mini-box format, it still retained the "12 packs of 5 cards" while Finest and Bowman Chrome moved to "6 packs of 10". The 2024 version presold 11/21/24 at $300, then dropped via EQL at $320 nearly two months later on 1/15/25. Even then, it still landed about two months earlier than where the 2025 product appears to be headed, and noticeably cheaper since we've already seen presale prices at $340 on 2025 product. Powered by an epic rookie class, current market on 2024 Boxes is ~$685. Even though the rookie class may be a bit underwhelming in comparison, the prospects certainly are not, and I have no doubt we will see a similar spike on 2025 product as well. I never love seeing price bumps, but this one almost feels…dare I say reasonable? A hobby box touts four autos- one more than Bowman Jumbo at half the price, and one more than Bowman Draft Jumbo, which is also almost double the price. And I bet you’ve actually heard of most of the names on the Best checklist, which is not always something you can say about Draft, no matter how deep your fandom lies. Total cards in product: 3,327,850 Products with similar production runs- 2025 Finest Baseball (3.8m), 2025/26 Finest NBA (3.68m), 2024/25 Finest Basketball (3.1m) Base card production: ~19,120 ea Production by format: Hobby- 55,464 boxes (6,933 cases) Print runs will definitely rise for 2025, possibly by quite a bit. We are already seeing additional parallels on the checklist, but I will cover all that when odds drop for that product. Hit Rates/box: Autos- 4 Parallels- 16 (12 Base refractors, 1 wave, 3 numbered parallels) Inserts- 5.8 Conclusions: Not really a whole lot of analytics to be done on a single-format product. I'll refrain from the "$ per" categories as it's a bit ridiculous at $685/box. I suppose $171.25/auto is not terrible in relation to other products. Just know that even though you can pull multiple notable name autos from one Best box, they don't quite carry the value of 1st Bowman Autos or Topps Chrome autos. You're just going to see a lot fewer of the rubbish names those sets give you. At the drop price of $300/$320, though it seemed a bit steep at the time, this product turned out to be a no-brainer for both rip value and hold sealed potential. This is something to keep in mind when 2025 drops at $340/$360 (or whatever release day pricing will be). So, this breakdown turned out to be just as much about 2025 Bowman's Best as 2024. But I do think it helps to see what happened with last year's product when deciding your strategy for 2025 Best. The downside is there will be more production, more parallels, and a bigger auto checklist. But I suspect demand will see to it that the product could be quite hard to secure. I hope to be able to bring you that analysis before the 2025 product actually releases on Wednesday, March 11th. A couple interesting notes regarding the following print runs: 1) Strokes of Gold are a case hit and look awesome. 1955 Bowman Anime are also great looking fan favorites and this is one of the more affordable sets for that particular insert. Here's the difference: print run on Anime is about 10x that of Strokes of Gold. Make of that what you will. Possibly a hidden value play? 2) Print run on base Quad Autos is notably higher than that of base Dual and Triple Autos, though the checklist is only 3 subjects deep. They are not consistent though, as I've seen some Quads /250 and others /75, while Dual and Triple base autos are ~50 ea. Print Runs: Parallels: Base Refractors- ~6,655 ea Wave Refractors- ~555 ea Inserts: Strokes of Gold (25 card CL)- ~92 ea Fabled Phenoms (25 card CL)- ~2,220 ea Fabled Phenoms Mini-Diamond- ~275 ea Impact Players (30 card CL)- ~1,850 ea Impact Players Mini-Diamond- ~460 ea Best Ballers (30 card CL)- ~3,700 ea Best Ballers Mini-Diamond- ~230 ea Bowman Showpieces (12 card CL)- ~3,080 ea Bowman Showpieces Mini-Diamond- ~290 ea 2024 MLB All-Star Futures Game (20 card CL)- ~1,075 ea 1955 Bowman Anime (5 card CL)- ~950 ea Autos: Best of 2024 Autos (104 card CL)- ~915 ea Best of 2024 Refractor- ~340 ea Dual Autos (19 card CL)- ~50 ea Triple Autos (10 card CL)- ~50 ea #thehobby #SlabSquatchAnalytics #2024BowmansBest
